On the cage issue, I'd recommend only a custom cage... With the unique shape of that car, the likelihood of a good outcome with a pre-bent cage is pretty low.
(You can take that with a grain of salt, as it comes from a custom cage builder)

Engineer, I'll look into it! Do you know if he prefers to start from scratch or (as I'm finding with most of the people around me) starting with one of those "Lemons approved" kits (i.e. http://www.swracecars.com/store/Lemons- … R_354.aspx or http://www.rollcagecomponents.com/new-category-3/)?
I'd rather start from scratch, but I don't own a bender, nor have the mad skillz required to do proper welding ( I only do stick welding which is really just soldering on steroids...)
I'll drop him an email and see what his season is looking like, thanks for the hint.
