Topic: Banned for life?

So we finish loading our car on the trailer and just as turn off the engine we hear Jay on the PA announce "... and he is now banned for life from Lemons".   I am sure that somebody knows what happened, and I'm just curious to know so I do not do the same thing.  I figure that since Jay announced it over the PA, he is not hoping to keep this between him and the offender.

One of the e36's (I think the yellow one with silver m3 wheels) was spinning donuts/burnouts while the cars were coming off track.  Big no-no.  I think they were a newer team...

Where were they doing the donuts?  A life time ban seems a little extreme if they were doing it in an empty paddock area.  Luckily, our 100hp Escort can only burn rubber when all four lock up.

I didn't see it, but it was immediately after the checkered flag while cars were still coming off the track. After hearing Jay's announcement many teams around us all felt the lifetime ban was deserved. It was a new team and terribly agressive on the track. Donuts and you didn't win? Go figure...well he did win something...the exit door!

Checkered flag had dropped. Cars had finished their cooldown lap and were lined up exiting the track. About halfway through, the M3 pulled out of line and positioned himself right into the middle of the final turn and started doing burnouts. Not like 1 or 2 circles. Like as many as he could.

No mention was made at the ceremony.

A side note: Some Lemons staffers gathered at track off were chuckling and pointing and smilingly discussing amongst themselves which team /car it was.

It's possible it wasn't just M3 wheels, it was a real e36 M3.

He did donuts in turn 11 as cars were waiting to get off track. So he was doing donuts about 50 ft from a line of stationary cars with drivers in them (I was in the line but not close. All I could see was a whole lot of tire smoke.)

Oooooh, I now know what was up.  I do like the tight reigns Jay keeps on the series.  Somebody might get a good deal on a slight used e36, if you like that kind of thing.

I saw the burnout and witnessed the "what were you thinking?" being repeated from Jay to the offender prior to the ceremony. I have to concur, doing donuts on a hot track (it's hot until there are zero cars on the tarmac) immediately next to a slow moving line of cars exiting the track is flat-out dumb.

completely missed the repercussions form this, but did see the donuts. banned for life seems a little steep. Banned for a year might have been enough to make a point.

If it was 13 that wouldn't surprise me.  I had about 90 minutes on the track when he came into turn 1 behind me and smashed his way through a pack of 4-5 cars.  The result for 13 was a black flag and a broken off passenger side mirror.

Anyone have video/pics of the burnout?

Not surprised it was that car. Very aggresive and stupid at the same time. Dive bomb into turn 11 and cause 3-4 cars to have damage. He tried squeezing into a group of 10 plus cars already in turn 11. Locking up brakes and rear ending leaving me no chose but to rearend him. To bad the crush is no longer used I would vote to crush this car.

Trying to advocate Beelzebub here but having a hard time seeing how their behavior would seem acceptable... or funny. Maybe there were cues over the weekend that gave them the impression that was okay. Maybe the aggressive driver/drivers got punted earlier in the race and, being rookies, thought that type of driving was de riguer. Hmm...

Yes, that was the car.  I was fighting off a Miata at the finish, and that car came out of nowhere and passed me feet before the checkered flag.  Holy crap was that thing fast.  I followed it around the track on the cool down lap and had a birds eye view of the whole thing, it happened right in front of me.  He pulled out of line and beside the BMW in front of him, they seemed to be chatting.  Then he pulled off to the middle of the section of track and did his thing.

To be honest, I thought it was funny as hell.  I was as close as anybody, and I didn't feel at risk.  When he was done he got back in line, when I passed the final corner workers on the way off they thought it was pretty funny too.

Not sure why that would warrant being banned for life, but I don't make the rules, Jay does.  I'm just saying, it didn't seem like he was out of control when he was doing it.

I think banned for life is rough, but all it is gonna take is one stunt like this that goes wrong, the lawyers will get involved, and it will ruin Jay's business and everyone's fun.

I  didn't see it,  but it sounds pretty funny.  on the other hand, I can picture track officials approaching Jay and asking him, " You ever want to race here again?  That had better never happen again."

Also,  who knows?  Maybe Jay or the Judges had already talked to them this weekend.  Or maybe Jay didn't feel like a car that fast was in the " spirit  of Lemons".

I'm not going to second guess Jay.  He has a LOT  more info than we have.
