Topic: A Maserati roadtrip to France's forgotten racetracks

Perhaps you chaps will enjoy this; I've got a Maserati Quattroporte VI here, the V8 twin turbo one, and a plan. I'm off to France to revisit some forgotten racetracks. The UK plated car will be invisible to French speed cameras (they don't recognise foreign plates) and a diplomatic pendant/flag thing to help with Paris traffic. I'm not admitting to fitting Police lights on a public forum. I have a long way to go and not much time and need all the help I can get. I'm visiting some of France's forgotten racetracks to enjoy a few laps, there'll be a camera crew along and I'll share the results here when I'm back.

Here's the plan: http://www.motorpunk.co.uk/features/roa … -the-plan/

Feedback/suggestions/legal advice welcome. smile

Thanks. I think.

Here's the route:

And here's the car:

It just cost me 146 US$ to fill the tank, for which I will get about 400 miles of driving. Looks like we'll be dining on peanuts and rainwater...

Re: A Maserati roadtrip to France's forgotten racetracks

Nice trip plan! Dr. Wife & I went to Reims after Le Mans 2012 but didn't take the time to go find the vestiges of the race track, we spent too much time taking in the rest of the sights and hitting the various museums.

No, that's how long it will take him to make bail.   smile

Part 1 of 3 is now out. No video yet but lots of pictures and plenty of mildly incriminating words. See here: http://www.motorpunk.co.uk/uncategorize … s-charade/

"Yes, Mr Supercar manufacturer, we promise not to take your car on track or misbehave in it"

Asking for directions, in English, from a Frenchman, who doesn't speak English, in the arse end of France:

Signs of the old track everywhere, they ran F1 races here 4 times until 1972:

We also interviewed Bibendum:

The old Charade F1 circuit is mostly public road, be silly not to enjoy a few hot laps, wouldn't it?

Next stop - Paris!

Feedback and comments most welcome, unless they're of a legal nature, then they're not. smile

Re: A Maserati roadtrip to France's forgotten racetracks

I got into a bit of trouble for this. Fixing an Italian diplomatic flag onto our Maserati to get Paris traffic to move out of the way. smile

A shamless French copy of something I once saw in Vegas;

And a day on an ancient racetrack that was built for 100MPH cars weighing 1 ton, in a 200MPH car weighing 2 tons;
