hey all, super stoked about this thread! I am one of the organizers for the event. My brother Luke is really the car guy, I just like ridiculous and fun stuff. But I wanted to throw an idea out there for potential teams. 

1. I'm in Chicago and could potentially help a team get a car off Craiglist or something if they are going to fly in from somewhere far. Not sure about storage, registration, etc but I'm sure we could figure something out if you were serious.

2. We are having a kickoff party on Thursday, March 31 so that everyone can hang out, meet each other, and drink some beers. I spoke with the venue and they are open to the idea of a team cutting the top off live at the event so that spectators could watch it happen. I am very into this idea, so if that sounds like something you're into, please let me know.

Also, just a heads up for potential teams:

Regular registration ends on February 29. After that, to register you will have to answer twenty absurdly hard trivia questions about the 90s teen sitcom, Saved by the Bell.

Thanks for the reminder...I just signed us up for "this"...3 people so far at planning to set sail in a potential land yacht from Chicago to Miami....we have room for one more, if anyone is stupid enough to join us....

I got us signed up and payed up.....but I have not gone in to do the team profile yet...we have not decided on a team name, but getting close....and we have not found a car yet on CL.....I'll do it this weekend....

We are starting to look around CL for a land yacht type of car...Lincoln Continental, big Cadillac, etc.  I wish I still had my mother's Buick Electra 225 from the early 70s.....that was huge!

Anyways,we are signed up for the rally as team Sawzallaholics Anonymous.....we have room for one more person if anyone is dumb enough to waste their retirement money on stupid excursions like this....I'm sure most would be better off on a vacation to Aruba....

We might need some help to purchase the thing and store it for a few weeks in the Chicago area.  I am flying in on March 30th, so we'd pick it up on March 31st.  Looking to spend approx. $500 to $1000....but it needs to run since we won't have time (or tools) to make any major repairs...

My 1976 S&S had a flip up jump seat in the back on each side.

Seems a shame to cut the roof off....

I'm blocked at work, but can't wait to see the pictures of this.  A buddy and I really wanted to do this but couldn't get the time off of work.  Really hope they plan one of these in the summer, or on the east coast.
