Topic: Edge Trim - Where to get?

I need some sort of little plastic u-shaped edge trim to put on the edges of the metal after I cut the inside of the door out. Otherwise my arms will undoubtedly be ground meat before long.

Something along those lines. I've been poking around on Amazon, but a lot of it is pretty pricey. If there a trick/cheap source?

And when do I get my "most mundane question ever asked" award?

Upholstery shops will have the push on u channel but the lemony way is to use door/hatch weatherstrip from the JY.

Re: Edge Trim - Where to get?

Pep Boys has it in their "style" section with the stick on chrome bits and license plate trim. You can also take some vacuum line or fuel line and split it with a razor blade or small scissors.

Pull-A-Part.  Just peel it off of the door frames.  I know older Hondas have a couple yards of the stuff.

This after dulling edges ... Cheap and won't come off

Yeah, I hit it with a flap wheel and used our high grade (but not the uber-strong "gaffer" grade) duck tape.

Re: Edge Trim - Where to get?

You can find this at autozone or Oreillys as door molding trim for not much money.

Usually available in clear or black. Also "silver chrome" or "gold chrome" for the real ballers.

Why didn't I think of theft as the way to get stuff cheaply? Duh. Thanks! :-)

I did duct tape on mine, FWIW.

Re: Edge Trim - Where to get?

We use the safety edging that comes on the teeth from the band saw blades at work.

Although with the time spent to go there, find it in the lot, and collect it, you may as well just buy it new by the foot.

Mine is literally on the drive home from work...such an evil shopping mall to have half way between a bad day and your first beer.

Re: Edge Trim - Where to get?

Lucky, mine is out of the way, and they mostly stock newer model year stuff since Cleveland eats cars so quickly.
