Topic: Over/Under 2L Challenge @CMP!
Annual CMP Over/Under 2L Challenge is on!
Now with Poke-and-Go Class!!
Because cancer sucks. Because you need a POS trophy on your wife's mantle to justify racing your POS. Because you have a Lincoln burning a hole in your crappy work shorts. Because you don't need a reason to throw away yet more money in the name of this beloved/terrible/glorious/frustrating grandiosity that gives new meaning to masochism. For all these and more, the good people at Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) are asking for your help in their fight to kick cancer's ass.
Rules are drop-dead simple, for idiots such as myself: For a $5 donation to ALSF your car gets entered into one of two races-within-the-race at CMP. If your POS is powered by anything smaller than 2.0 litres, you are classified as a Buzz Bomb; 2.0 litres and above, and you are in the Cruise Missile class. Whoever finishes Sunday at the top of their Over/Under class (most laps turned) wins one of two Scepters of Suck (trophies currently being welded together by Peter at Hong Norrth), a bottle of something interesting I'm experimenting with, and the gratitude of every kid in the country currently putting up the fight of their lives against a disease that has no f**king right.
Bonus class!! There will be a separate trophy and prize for the Poke-and-Go Class, given to whichever Pokemon-themed crapcan finishes more laps than the other Pikachuijuamon or whatever the hell they're called. There has to be at least two teams prepared to mock this ridiculous example of 15 minute pop culture absurdity, right? I guess this qualifies as a lure...or something?
So, since your car probably has ZERO chance at winning this thing overall on laps, why not enter our race-within-a-race and give your team some legit raison d'etre for a $5 pittance?
If this sounds like your shot of whiskey, sign up here by posting to this thread with the following info:
1) Team name
2) car make and number
3) over or under 2L
4) contact person for your team that I can shake down for $5
Me (Brandt) and Kyle from Mock Grass will trade decals (new designs this year!) for $5 at the block party on Friday. We will also try to separate recalcitrant team principals from their $5 after BS, when everyone is three drinks in, utilizing the time-tested techniques of guilt and sophistry.
