I ordered The Dirt-Cheap "Helmet & Race Suit & So Forth" Kit that I understood to be everything i needed to pass tech. I didn't think about the neck brace until I got down to No Problem, so I had to share a smelly one with my team mates. Was I supposed to receive the neck brace in the kit or was I supposed to buy that separate? Thanks

Sorry, the neck brace isn't included in the kit--we should probably make that more clear. As you discovered, sharing is fine per the rules, but not so fine when it comes to the stank factor.
No problem. I was really happy with the gear for the most part. The shoes are the only thing that I'll probably replace. I had a bad case of the hot foots and no one else on my team seemed to have a problem.
Funny, I use the Pyrotect shoes from the kit, and our Alfa has a serious case of hot floor that seems to affect everyone who is stupid enough to drive it. Though my right shoe looks like I did a flying karate kick through the upper atmosphere, I've fared better than some of my teammates. 'Course there's the possibility that if the floor is burning your shoes, the problem is not really with the shoes....but I'm probably going too far out on a limb there.
My team needs to outfit 2 drivers so where is the info on the dirt cheap kit? I'd like to get my personal safety items before I start blowing all my cash on nifty tires and brake parts.
Does the neck brace have to be nomex, or is a ebay karting collar ok? I may still get a HANS, so if I get a foam one I'm gonna go cheap.

The brace should be flame resistant. Pretty sure the flaming neck collar is something they do when you get kidnapped in South America.
