Re: Bat-sChIT(ROËN)-Crazy?

I can't find much info about a 1971 DS19.

Rock Auto has Citroen listings but they don;t show a DS19 in 71, they show a DS21.  They have a DS19 in 67 but no water pump.

I must be missing something and haven't had the time to read all the info on the Citroen.

I did find this place:

Commercial Water Pump Rebuilders
1151 West 22nd Street
Houston, TX 77008-1805
E-Mail: waterpump01@yahoo.com
(713) 864-5199

Other than that, I can tow the car into Houston if he gets into range and help try to fix it and offer a place to crash.

At 8:49 Spank was inside 200 miles of San Antonio and happily reported he was just cruising along. He would be stopping inside 50 miles to fuel up and check the water. His phone is currently off to save power because it is almost dead. I hope to hear from him soon.

Re: Bat-sChIT(ROËN)-Crazy?

Advance says they have one "available to ship" and the soonest it could be available would be Wednesday.

Can't find one in stores but I am seeing "Chevrolet" references with that part number...wish I could figure out what Chevy used that thing, maybe I could pull one from a yard.

Chevrolet references often happen because Chevrolet is next to Citroen and a lot of systems don't have Citroen on the damned list of manufacturers, so Chevrolet gets selected because it's "closest"

Gotta figure out a way to enter our 505 Turbo in this thing. On the other hand we've hardly driven the thing since Goin For Broken so I don't know if it could make it from Seattle to Moscow, much less to Texas or Iowa. Sure would be an adventure though!

Re: Bat-sChIT(ROËN)-Crazy?

Kragen has part numbers for lots of Opel parts, but can't get the parts and/or haven't stocked them in years. I'd expect the same to be true for Spank's car.

Chevrolet is a French name.

At 1:38 Spank text me he was 180 miles out from Houston so it looks like he went for the long run.

Do we have a part # for the water pump?  Maybe it's shared with another car that's somewhat less uncommon?

I have no idea which one of those is the right one.

Just sent a message to a buddy of mine that works O'Reilly to see if he can dig it up.

Wait, is that a bolt kit or a water pump?

Dang, I hope things hold out OK. If my Citroen-crazy acquaintance does contact me with the pump, I'll nab it and hold onto it for the return trip. (Or if it's early enough in the day, maybe FedEx to FL?)

I'd run a Peugeot 504.

I bet you could get the street safari guys to help out with that.  All they do US side is BABE but they have 10 or 15 european rallys a year.

That is not Spanks style. His wife and kids are already there at the time share and he promised he would spend a few days doing the vacation thing with them before the race.

He just told me he is going to try and drive straight through so lets hope the SHitroen holds together.

When he pulls this off i think the Lemons group will have a new found respect for the French whips.

Good job to Eyesore in 2010 with their overall win but I think I know who should be sent to LeMans in 2012.  SPANK FOR PRESIDENT, i mean, SPANK FOR LEMANS 2012!!
