As mentioned start with www.car-parts.com. Use the "Non-interchange" search function, which searches from year X to year Y. You still have to search through the different car types, but if you limit your search to  zip code it will be not to difficult.

Then call them up.  They have the car you just searched for, it should be pretty straight forward to get information on the car/engine. If they are not willing to talk to you, just hang up and go to the next one. there are guys who are hungry and will talk to you. Some of them are very helpful.

Look for a 4.6 from an Explorer (2002-up) They use an aluminum block.

Also, PI heads on a non-PI short block runs about 10.3:1 static compression ratio.

Have you looked into a process called metal stitching?
I know nothing about it other than what I found here:
