Re: Idea: multiple Briggs & Stratton flathead engines

I'd do a whole line of those Briggs Vanguard V twins. Think of the theme possibilities!
5 of them = V10. You could call it the 'Briper'.
6 of them = V12. You could call it the 'Braguar'.
8 of them = V16, now it's a 'Bradillac' or 'Brincoln'.

so would two of these together be called a "Brancia" ?

or a massive 10 of them in a row the "Brärtsilä" of course you'd be a few ponies shy of the 13,500hp of the original smile

That’s about all the ideas I have for now.  Let me know what y’all think.

We (my cohorts and I) were having a discussion about this very subject during a road trip about a year ago.  We thought it sounded like a wonderful idea, but we didn't want to steal such a good idea from anyone.  That's why we didn't pursue it...that's the only reason...we left it...for you!

You'd have to do a whole line of something to make this project happen. tongue

But the Vanguard engines are all modern and OHV and stuff.

Needs to be a gaggle of flat-twin flat-head flat-awesomeness.

Re: Idea: multiple Briggs & Stratton flathead engines

If you pop the center 'plug' out of the fan shield, you should see the flywheel nut and a flat machined surface with 2 or 4 bolt holes, that's how you pull the flywheel and also take power off of the 'wrong' side of the engine. Some industrial spider couplings and a cobbled together engine mount...

Then there are high performance ideas.
