Wahoo... we are too.   Look forward to seeing you there again.  This is going to be a blast.

Re: How many for some ArseSweat at ButtonWillow?

posting for mike - scrubby will be there, assuming that it and the vanagon get home from the dallas 24 and then last weekends bfe gp in denver.  If all goes well we'll have a week to look the car over before it goes back on the trailer.  amanda

Re: How many for some ArseSweat at ButtonWillow?

What are the chances we can get Lost Hill added back to the map for this race? That strait away after riverside is BOOOORING and arguably more dangerous as it sets up some tremendous closing speed differentials in the braking zone at the end. We promise to behave ourselves over the hill! Promise!

Re: How many for some ArseSweat at ButtonWillow?

I would second the request to get Lost Hills back.  Much more fun than the long straight-away.  And while we are at it, can we get Star Mazda as well?

Re: How many for some ArseSweat at ButtonWillow?

I saw a lot more incidents at the hill than anywhere else. Got a lot of them on video, too. wink

I have driven this track, in both directions, both with and without the hill, and I think it is far better with the hill.   It is more challenging, but lots more fun (and, I think, safer) than that long "drag strip".

Oakland's Finest Undercover CRX will be there for our first 24 hour race. We just need to put lights on the car. And get gauges that work. And find one more driver. And pit support. And figure out how to cool the car. and not blow a head gasket. and re-theme. I mean, that should only take a month or two. Wait, we only have 23 days?!?!?

Can't wait to try a real 24 hour race....

Ah, nice to see that we're not the only team sweating (ha) getting the car done in time for the race.

Re: How many for some ArseSweat at ButtonWillow?

We hope to be there. After Infineon (and the 2rd race where we just had no power), we took out the engine that we bought with the car and managed to put a new one we bought off craigslist. Considering this is the first time we have ever swapped engines in any car, we were pretty excited when it fired up right away.

Turns out we had no compression (could turn the engine over freely) and a broken head bolt on the old engine.

Of course now I am running into some issues with the alignment of all the pulley belts (I think we have W-series VG30 or an A/B with a W-Series crank pulley, any bay-area people that are familiar with Z31s, I could use some help figuring it out).....

But at least we will be cool looking at night!

Walk around and talk to the teams (when they have spare moments) and get all the different perspectives. Each will have a different insight, and most are happy to chew the fat with ya!

Make sure you visit with cars from different classes, especially teams that run something that you find interesting. TinyVette is a good one to talk to, as are Spank's British Brigade, Mikes VW madness, the Petty Cash Jeep, Bimmervitch, and of course us ZomBees.

Sooo many cool teams will be there it's hard to mention them all. Just look for anyone with a smile on their face. They are the ones obviously doing it right.

good deal.  is there a page with the cars that are running posted up somewhere?

Fair warning to y'all:

Keep them lights aimed low enough not to dazzle.  I will be black flagging egregious offenders, and you will end up fixing lights and writing haiku about blinding the other drivers for Phil....

Does this means cars running with stock high beams will not work?

Not sure bout brights.... I think just brights would not be so bad.. I believe its more so teams who hook up lights like we did, make sure they point them level or down so they do not shine into peoples rear view mirrors.

Perhaps they'll have to change the name of the race to Arse-sore-a-palooza because we will be sitting on them for 24 hours?
