Yes you guessed it ... Roller ... Big Fat 1969 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II ...
Ran when parked 5 plus years ago ... Dang, you can find anything on craisglist!
We totally promised ourselves that we wouldn't be building a car this winter! ... anyone know a good place to sell sperm or blood so I can pay for all this?

Truck stops? Craigslist clamped down on the erotic servicess section, I don't know where that kind of traffic has moved to, but I'm sure there's a forum somewhere. If you market it right, you might also come up with some paying drivers.
I see the second car to be claimed in Lemons!

No way. No one is that stupid. Ever seen the braking system on one of those beasts? That alone is enough to cause a full blown drinking problem. So, no fail possible.

Wouldn't it be the third car to be claimed?

If an 05 GTO didn't get claimed why would this???
Seems a hella lot less cheaty....and a hella lot more Lemony than the GTO, or the RX8 for that matter. ( 2 cars in my uneducated personal veiw thatg are not in the Lemons spirit)
But each to their own, and as the GTO has shown, being a newer car doesn't mean its gonna blow the doors off everything.
There is no way in hell Jay would want to claim this.
1. East coast car...how to get this back to CA, and then what on earth to do with it?
2. It really is a legit Lemons quality Rolls: hasn't run in 5+ years, rusted through floorboards, etc. We can't afford to buy a $5000 car to race, this was a legit $1000, and I'm sure we can easily sell off a few things. We just happened to win the Craigslist lottery, and find a seller who, because of his sentimental attachment to the car, was thrilled with our plans to bring the car to the track (and not to the scapper!)
3. Have any of you actually seen what Rolls Royce parts go for? Neither had we, until yesterday. Holy crap.
Our plan is to do as little as possible to the car to get it on track. Here's the plan:
1. Get it running/driving/safe.
2. Add cage, kill switch, fire bottle, seat, belts.
3. Hit the track
there is nothing but win in this plan.
and it's totally fitting for montecello.
Jealous.
I hear the grill alone is worth five grand!
I predict roll angles that will make people think this is the boat.
Ahhh! you beat us to it!!! we were going to do a "New York Aristocrats" theme.
roll into the penalty box and say "Rules??? What rules do you refer to? Rules are for little people who pay taxes"
Wow My dream come true! I thought I had some Poupon, but I'll have to give it back!
We've been waiting for a Lemons Rolls for a long time.
Also, what kind of crack must be smoked to make anyone think we'd claim this car?

The good stuff from Oakland.

I think at truck stops you get paid to collect sperm ... I'm more thinking the paid to donate side of the business!
Jeff,
I'm guessing this is at the NJ HQ?
Will it be fitted there, or at the Birdsboro HQ?
I'd love to stop by to see it.
It is at 3PM North now, but I'm sure it will make its way to 3PM South before long. We plan to get it running and registered to shake it down and because it will be hilarious to drive around.
A friend of mine had this at work back in the 80's and I think it would be a killer theme:

Update! We took advantage of the 50 degree weather here today and actually looked to see what the hell we got ourselves into.
First, we had to drain the gas tank. The 26 gallon tank was full of 5 year old gas. Jeff filled all of our race cans, and this stuff will gradually be burned up in the daily drivers, as it didn't seem that bad, then we put in 5 gallons of fresh gas
While this was happening, I was cleaning out the carbs. This thing has 2" SU carbs, and a very odd intake tract, which as an indicator of how this car was treated, involved both PVC pipe and dyer hose. The float bowls weren't bad, everything seemed to cleanup OK with ample doses of carb cleaner.
Jim worked to clean all of the grounds and clear out the trunk, this thing has a built in kill switch in the trunk!
Chrissy worked on doing some general de-scuzzification, this thing is full of so many neat touches, it's amazing.
Now that we had the carbs ready and the wiring better, we tried to turn it over, no luck, so of course we just hit the starter with a hammer until it worked! We poured some gas in the float bowls, and cranked for a bit. It seemed to turn over well, had good compression bumps, but wasn't starting. We pulled a plug and had spark, so we sprayed some carb cleaner in the intake, and it sputtered to life!
It would run only briefly, as the float bowls don't hold much, and the fuel pumps weren't working, even after hitting them with a hammer. Once we got the pump out (just a dual ended SU pump, so just two of the pump on my MG stuck together), and cleaned up the points and moved the linkage, and we got both sides working, so tomorrow we will get the pump in and it should then run on it's own.
And for those of you who think this is too nice, here's the floor on the driver's side
As always, there is more on our team Facebook page, including a video of it running!!

We're pretty excited to be "motoring" with this thing in nearly 100% stock configuration! (We don't want to be so crass as suggest we will be "racing")
