Topic: driving in Russia

If you need a chuckle...

the horse in the cross walk
the guy who crashes, calmly gets out, grabs his bag and walks away
the camera car getting passed by a car on it's roof

Re: driving in Russia

The guy that falls out the front windshield and lands on his feet still holding the steering wheel!

Thank you Russia for making us Americans feel like not that bad of drivers.

Re: driving in Russia

I find it interesting that everyone drives around with a camera running at all times.

Re: driving in Russia

jalopnik has explained that a few times.

in russia, police and court and insurance are occasional luxuries, while terrible driving is rampant.

the cameras can make or break a he-said-she-said case, and have also prevented several road-side beatings.

Re: driving in Russia

At first, I thought they're not putting brake pedals in these cars.  But then I saw brake lights.  So now, I think it is a matter of lack of depth perception and too much speed. A wicked combination.

That's all I can think of when I hear that song now.

Re: driving in Russia

Well, it's certainly not as bad as Russia apparently is, but there are enough crazy drivers here in Chicago I've been tempted to buy one of these, which I assume is the sort of thing the Russians are using.  Some of them log GPS and g-forces, which might make them a cheap option for racing.

Re: driving in Russia

I have a cheapie $25 direct-from-Shezuan wide-angle cam waiting to go in my truck. I say waiting because I haven't gotten up the motivation to buy a set of 16gb SD cards, and run a power wire up to it. I wish the quality was less "Blackberry" and more "iPhone."
