Topic: Doing a "60s Detroit Cars of Lemons" post, need help with memory

I want to write about the 1960s American cars of Lemons, and of course I will miss a bunch of important ones if I rely on my memory, which will cause racers on those teams to think I am a bad person for forgetting about them (this happens every time I do such a project, and while I probably am a bad person, I still want to do a good job documenting this stuff). That means I need your help! Here are the 1960-69 model-year American cars I can think of, off the top of my head. What am I missing?

The Size Matters '67 Fury.
The Speedycop Galaxie.
The Speedycop Impala wagon.
The Speedycop Thunderbird.
The '61 Rambler.
The Speed Holes Rambler Marlin.
The UDMan Corvair.
The Zero Below Corvair.
The Transcontinental Drifters Corvair.
The late-60s General Lee-painted Chevy Nova that raced in early California events.
The Old Fart Racing Buick Skylark that raced at Reno-Fernley/Thunderhill in 2008-2009.
The Oly Express Barracuda.
Spank's Olds Toronado.
That horrible Mustang that raced at Altamont/Thunderhill, 2007-2008.

What about the 64? Falcon from the Salton Sea Speed Shop?
Didn't Speedy have a cadillac or was that pre 60?
Faster Farms?

See, I missed some really obvious ones. Also the Escape Velocity Dart.

Re: Doing a "60s Detroit Cars of Lemons" post, need help with memory

'65 Mustang notchback at last Sears Pointless. Couldn't stay on the track, it went off twice during my   stints alone. (no, I wasn't driving it)...

Re: Doing a "60s Detroit Cars of Lemons" post, need help with memory

Wasn't there another Valiant-based Barracuda, besides the Oly Express?

Re: Doing a "60s Detroit Cars of Lemons" post, need help with memory

NSF ran a 64/65 Barracuda in the Chihuahua Express; I would guess it ran Lemons first.

Wasn't there a red fastback mustang at Road America last year?

Edit: Found it.

The Mustang at Road America is a '72 or '73. However, the mention of NSF reminds me that I forgot about their rusty-ass '62 Fury.

Not sure if it was mentioned already but there was this poor.....car....whatever it was at Reno a few years back

This Nova from the Butt in the same year could be a 69 but more likely a 70 or 71

I'm not sure if this Mustang (2007 Arse Freeze) is the same as the one at the Altamont race in 2008:

the door (color, radiaoactive symbol, crease) and dog leg placement on the cage says it is likely so.

Re: Doing a "60s Detroit Cars of Lemons" post, need help with memory

That Mustang taught me to ignore thoughts of "if he can go that fast, I can go that fast" at Altamont. I had driven plenty of turrible Mustangs/Falcons/etc of that vintage, so I knew how execrementally miserable they handled in stock form, and when I got passed by that wretched-looking Mustang while driving the Black Metal V8olvo I assumed that I must be driving unacceptably slowly and that my teammates were hating me for it (actually I was doing just fine and my teammates weren't even paying attention). So, I kicked it up from 5/10ths to 29/10ths, passed the Mustang, and promptly looped the car in dramatic fashion, earning the Highway 17 penalty and turning a pretty good stint into a very bad one. Turns out the Mustang had a very good driver plus bonus cheaty suspension (it was also very unreliable, thanks to the blow-uppy nature of the Ford Windsor motor in Lemons).

Jay learned the lesson of ignoring "If he can go that fast..." impulses in even more vivid fashion than I did, thanks to Malcolm Smith.

I didn't remember the NSF Barracuda because I wasn't at the December 2011 ECR race. Did it do any other races?

Ive got a friend that has been bugging me about building a 68 mustang that he bought in a package deal, it's pretty rough from what I understand.

Barracuda was a one and done car for Lemons.  We polished it up a little and put a new transmission in it.

I seem to recall another notchback Mustang in a white/blue stripes paint scheme - was it a repaint of the awful-looking one already mentioned?

I'll make it to an actual race one of these days.  Until then...

This white-with-blue-stripes Mustang was at the 2009 Reno-Fernley race. I'm pretty sure it's the one we saw at the 2008 Altamont/Thunderhill races.

Re: Doing a "60s Detroit Cars of Lemons" post, need help with memory

Theres also the Turdlingua racing Mustang that used to run at Sonoma IIRC...

Re: Doing a "60s Detroit Cars of Lemons" post, need help with memory

Speedycop's group had a '60 Falcon (NJMP 12) and the '61 Fleetwood.
The "Scout" was allegedly a '64.
There was a '65 Chevy SomethingOrOther (Impala?) at Flat Rock.
Coming From Behind's 64 Dart was at Arse-Freeze 13.

Got shots of the Falcon, Fleetwood, Scout, and '66 Dart, but I don't recall any '60s GM cars at Flat Rock (I wasn't there). The Size Matters '67 Fury was there, could that be what you're thinking of?
