Topic: 1959 Anglia build

I've been looking for a new project ever since I moved away from the big city.  I've toyed with a number of ideas, but old and obscure has always been my main objective.

Today I picked up not one... but TWO Anglias from the late 50's / early 60's.  The guy I bought them from has had them in his field for 16 years (they came with the house originally) and supposedly they ran 16 years ago.  One decent on the outside, and NO floor pan on the inside.  The other is slightly more ragged on the outside, but the floor is in pretty decent shape for sitting outside.  I even got the (uber rare) blue Oregon license plates... last sticker on the plates?  1976.

Not really sure what my plan is, but a Miata drive train swap is an option.. or just get the damn thing running and throw it on the track.  We have a somewhat competitive MR2, but I've been looking for something more in the spirit of crap-can racing.  This should work.

This one looks better on the inside than the out

This one is a PILE on the inside...

Amazingly.. both fit on my 20' flatbed... sorta

What fender?

Not sure what race I will have this done for... maybe Arse-freeze 2010?  IOE here I come!

BTW.. I paid $600 for both.. which I guess is a steal for these cars.

Re: 1959 Anglia build

Re: 1959 Anglia build

See, the reason I avoid buying 2 of the same car is my mind is immediately filled with pervese ways to cut them up and weld them back together.

Something like this comes to mind

Re: 1959 Anglia build

Good work!

Er, get to work.

"This is the scene where I get shot," Bronson said. "I have these little squibs that explode to make it look like bullets are hitting." "Fascinating," said Bergman. "I never knew how they did that." "You mean," asked Bronson, "you don't use machine guns in your movies?"

Re: 1959 Anglia build

And yes, Lemons needs more British Fords.

Our Prefect has, shall we say, limited floorboards, too. Fortunately some kind soul at some point welded some new thick sheet metal in both sides of the driveshaft tunnel. cool

Please send me some photos of your Prefect project, so I can use them in next week's 2010 Lemons preview post.

Re: 1959 Anglia build

I'm astounded. Astounded that we didn't see Humping Anglias on that trailer.
