Topic: San Francisco International Auto Show - Call for Cars

Now is the time for all crappy cars to come to the aid of your ego.

In their infinite wisdom, the organizers of the 2014 San Francisco International Auto Show www.sfautoshow.com have invited Lemons to the party.

The Details:
The show runs from November 22nd - November 29th at the Moscone Center.
Load-In will be Thursday the 20th and/or Friday the 21st*
Load-Out will be Saturday the 29th and/or Sunday the 30th*

*We will be firming up logistics with the organizers and the Moscone Center.

Your job will be to get your car to the event space and retrieve it after the show ends.
Your car should be "Spiffed Up" meaning wiped clean of the blood of our enemies and the shame of misfortune. Clean the dead bugs off the windshield, driver's tears off the steering wheel and sweat droplets from push-starting off the back.

In appreciation of your participation, each entry will receive (2) All-Week passes & (2) Opening Night Party tickets (see...I told you there was a party) and of course, bragging rights.

Please note that this event spans the Thanksgiving holiday.
If you plan to be out of town during the potential Load-In / Load-Out days, please do not volunteer.

If you're interested in taking part - send an email to ****@****.com and we'll take it from there.

The social life of our cars is getting hectic.

*lol*  Scrubby certainly is photogenic.  Parking Scrubby next to Spank the Builder meant that the TV crews never wandered far from your paddock space.

I'm thinking..............
A few years ago I towed a 26'x8' fishing boat thru downtown SF, right by the Moscone center. It's doable. I guess we could drag Thunderchicken in his 28' long enclosed trailer into the heart of the City.
Thanksgiving.............. 1 week before Sears Point.
Still thinking................

Re: San Francisco International Auto Show - Call for Cars

We've still got space in the Sacto show, if your car's social schedule has an opening.

Re: San Francisco International Auto Show - Call for Cars

So, it looks like we didn't say "Yes" fast enough. If anyone is willing to duck out of the SF show, #666 would love to take their place. This is a show I've been going to since I was a young kid, so the idea of having our car in there blows my mind.

Plus I want people to gasp when they see The Devil Camaro.

Re: San Francisco International Auto Show - Call for Cars

Has anyone gotten their acceptance/confirmation notice yet?

November is getting busy. This show takes up 10 days, SEMA takes 4, Thanksgiving however many, and Arse-Freeze is the first weekend in December. The Tinyvette still needs a lot of work.

Re: San Francisco International Auto Show - Call for Cars

We haven't received any official confirmation. Maybe we didn't make the cut?
It would be nice to be able to plan logistics earlier than later. After all, we we are looking at an 8 mile tow!

Ciao

Jim

Re: San Francisco International Auto Show - Call for Cars

The number were reduce to 6 so they pulled straw to determine who brings a car.  Cars in are:

Tinyvette
IWannaRoc
Bunny w/ Or w/o
MTGT
Licensed 2 Ill
UDC

Load-in is Wednesday early morning, load-out Sunday the 30th mid-morning.

The SF Chron has an insert on the show in today's paper. It included pictures of pretty much every type of car in the show except ours.

The web site shows our cars (down at the bottom)- http://www.sfautoshow.com/special-attra … race-cars/

Transport will be a challenge for me. I may drive the Tinyvette in and rent a car to get home. I considered bus, BART, and Amtrack but that is too danged slow and expensive.

Mike: Not as expensive as renting...and maybe not as slow as Bay area traffic on I80.

BART: Powell St. station(3 block walk from Moscone Ctr.) to Richmond Sta. $4.50
Amtrack/ Capitol Corridor: Richmond (1/2 block walk from Richmond BART sta.) to Davis $23.00. Trains eastbound every hour. Total transit time, 2-1/2 to 3 hours, depending on connections.
Total, round trip cost ($4.50 + $23.00) X 2 = $55/ per person
We just used a similar journey from Auburn to the City for a 10 day Mexican Riviera Cruise a few weeks ago.
Painless and cheaper than fuel cost+ bridge tolls+10 day Downtown SF parking.
Added bonus-- no Bay area commuter traffic worries, and you can claim Green credits.  Win, Win.

Re: San Francisco International Auto Show - Call for Cars

Thanks. I'll look into it. A rental car will cost me just over $100. And still considering renting a trailer.

Re: San Francisco International Auto Show - Call for Cars

Megabus to Sac, then we'll get you home.

The cars are in. It looks like we got there first.

The media pre-show is Friday evening.

Re: San Francisco International Auto Show - Call for Cars

It's over.

No doubt Lemons left its mark. Five of them.

All that was left when I picked up my car on Sunday were a couple of unwanted museum and Huffaker cars.
