You could also do a Basic Instinct theme which could get interesting with the right, or even the wrong, people.

Don't forget the Pretty Woman possibilities:

You'd need a lady driver who shifts well, and a male driver who shifts poorly to complete the theme properly.

Fixed that for you.

Re: Fun game - ID Sputnik's new Lemons project

Good luck with this. I had an Esprit on the hook for a Lemons car about a year or 18 months ago, but it was up in Chicago and I just could never pull the trigger on it. Glad to see that someone's going to get one of these into the race!

Don't cut the roof off of this one...

Re: Fun game - ID Sputnik's new Lemons project

Wow. Major points.

We run the Chotus on the west coast and I have an 84 Esprit that I'm slowly restoring. I took a non-serious look at what it would take to get the esprit in Lemons and decided the cage was a big big deal. The Esprit is 44 inches high, compared to the Elite at 47.5 inches. We had to drop the drivers seat through the floor on the Elite to get the necessary headroom to the cage. The result for me that there are many places on a track where I can't see the track over the hood because we're so low.

There are pictures here of how we had our cage made: http://churchofbk.com/bteam/chotus/cage/

Good luck.

Chotus! Chotus! Chotus! Chotus!

Re: Fun game - ID Sputnik's new Lemons project

Other Chotus team member here.

Looking at some of your past projects, it's obvious that you know what you're doing.  With that said, be very aware of helmet clearance.  Because the car is so low (as Steve mentioned), even with a high angle seat lowered as much as possible, your helmet will be right next to the roof.  More importantly, it will be very close to the roll bar depending on where you put that bar (put it as far back as possible).  Because of the rake of the side windows, it will also be close to the top door aperture bar.  This is just to say don't forget the helmet-shod driver when laying out the cage.

I picture every car as a Lemons car (Lemonitus?) -- I always pictured Steve's Esprit has having an exo-cage - at least on the top.

Best of luck.  Can't wait to see it.

Also, be prepared to eventually replace every Lotus bit with something that actually works.  smile

Re: Fun game - ID Sputnik's new Lemons project

A Chevy Citation with an Iron Duke and automatic transmission would be the perfect running gear donor for that.

Re: Fun game - ID Sputnik's new Lemons project

Well its not really burned. If you look at the pictures it only had an engine fire. Only the engine area took any damage and it is minimal, mostly cosmetic. No other compartments were touched. I think the reason we got such a low price is the guy had horrible pictures on eBay, the car was in Canada and nobody was dumb enough to try and bring it across the border except us. Hell if you look at custom laws a salvage title isn't suppose to cross, but we took that risk. Lastly the car has been sitting for 10 years since it was damaged in 2004.

We are well aware the forums and comments on articles are going to blow up on how the car wasn't 500. I will show our accounting papers to anyone who asks when the car is race ready.
