Re: October Joliet Race - Who's coming?
We almost have a 3 car team...a VW...a Camaro...and a Ford Probe.....
How can we lose with that lineup???
Try to rule the World... The same thing we try to do every race.

Team sheen will be there with hopefully both the integra and the mirada.
We'll be there with the escort.

As it is getting close to that time and I am too lazy to make the calls myself, anyone checked with Autobahn yet about the Test and Tune (both tracks?) and Thursday evening entry?
I got an email back from the track manager.
The test and tune form will be up in the next week or so.
The paddock will be open for test day participants on thursday evening after 5:00 pm.
Tech starts at 9am for track day.
B&D Racing is showing up with the Fifth element Porsche 924.
Has any one raced 7 weeks after knee replacement surgery? If yes what was the worst part walking around the pits or driving?
I get the feeling this is gonna be a tiny race. Anybody know the final car count?

Too soon to know. We are likely not going to top 80 cars but I am hoping over 70.
I am still shocked at the low turn-out for the 24. Everyone on here whines, complains, begs and in the end they don't show. This at an exceptionally comfortable facility (except the lack of shore power) with very cooperative hosts.
The Midwest seems to have about 50 core cars (from it seems about 45 teams), 10 sometime cars from local teams and 10-20 new teams or travelers for most races.
Not going to big. this time of year, probably not many new cars. Same great paddock experience and generally clean racing.

Hanging out in the paddock is the best part, hopefully we actually get some teams camping. There have been several races where the paddock is dead quite after the track goes cold.

I ALWAYS do dinner and roving paddock party Thursday, Friday and Saturday night regardless of weather (even Gingerman at 28 degrees). You may know my team captain better than I...Wally-the-not-so-Wonderdog our 15 year old Bernese Mountain Dog that guides us with an iron fist and a belly full of bacon. There is no night on a normal split race we do not meet and greet anyone still on site. If they show up before 8 PM, I normally feed them....well or very well depending on the night.

Ours is new and we are signed up... just have to get it done and all! Unfortunately, it's an e30... but we were dumb enough to get an automatic eta rolling parts car as a starting point. It may only be slightly less terrible than PSR's Cutlass

My team has new members that will get a kick out of the paddock scene, if it isn't a ghost town. They are planning on camping out all weekend.

Honestly, nothing wrong with an E30 done inthe spirit of Lemons...just shows a lack of creativity.
Find the paddock with two Saturns and a Dustbuster, We will ply you with food and adult beverages and regale you with stories of mostly half truths. We have a sectional of old van seats, console TV and VHS tapes of ALL the Star Wars that matter and some others.
If you stay put in your paddock you will eventually see a bear looking thing that is actually our team captain (we think he is a dog). Invite us in. No food below the waist unless you wish to have dog slobber up to your elbow and a missing brat, Bonus if you are in costume for part of Friday night.
Midwest race "parties" are low key but lots of great folks.

Excellent! Good to know that there'll be some after-hours fun again at Autobahn.
Looks like I'll be at the country club after all -- I've accepted an invite from the Apocalyptic Racing guys to drive their awesome Toylet Celica, and will be doing my first stint in a RWD car at my 11th Lemons race ( all prior cars have been FWD ). Hope I can keep it on the track......
I'll be bringing a nice selection of craft beers. See y'all there!

The lack of Shore power is kind of rough. Also the amount of Asphalt vs dirt makes setup and camping more trouble.
it's a great track and a great facility, but it's not a great place to camp or keep a pit going without a lot of pricy secondary gear.
