Re: 2016 Halloween Hooptiefest, who's in

ERM Racing will be back this year, but the Doof Wagon is staying home. We will have, in its stead,  a might fine 1952 Chrysler New Yorker!  The power planr is updated to 70's technology, but we're sticking with the tried and true 50's braking system, 4 wheel drums.  Expect to see us twice for every lap you do....

We are looking to snag a garage space so will either have one to share or will be looking to find one someone else has to split.

A subset of the Monkey Football League will be making the trek.  Trying to locate a Halloween costume for the gorilla now.

How large is the infield compared to NJMP?  Does it get crowded?  Is it open to Thursday night  arrivals?

Maybe not as massive as NJ which has grass on both sides of the garages. But there is never really a space issue. NH has two sets of garages, a large section of dirt (gravel) parking for motorhomes or campers brave enough to try and drive stakes into the rocks, and general parking around the center restaurant.

Honestly not sure about Thursday night arrivals, I live close enough that I've always just woken up early and driven up.

Thanks, that helps.  So the infield is a dirt lot?  I thought the color looked odd from google maps.  We usually camp in tents.  That sucks on gravel.  Maybe it is time we pop our RV cherry.  Bahhhh....

Re: 2016 Halloween Hooptiefest, who's in

Not quite dirt, its like a very hard packed gravel/cinders kind of surface, with asphalt roadways interconnecting everything. As TheEngineer said, its difficult to drive stakes into that surface. The upside is that it really doesn't get muddy when it rains.

Unlike Thompson, you are never really too far away from the hot pits, no matter where you setup camp in the infield, so getting there early is not such a big deal.

There is a (very) small grass area near turn 2 where the access road goes under the track, but at that time of year there is not likely to be much grass still growing. Average lows for late October are in the low 30s, but it can easily be much colder than that. Last year it dipped into the low 20s at night and it was rainy and in the 30s during the day. No cool suits required.

Re: 2016 Halloween Hooptiefest, who's in

Yea, it's not really gravel, but it sure seems like it if you ever try to drive stakes into the ground. There is some grass, but if you want power it won't be near the grass. I always stay in a tent, and we usually torture ourselves setting up on the infield and ruin a dozen stakes, give up, and tie our tents to fences and/or cars.

It does get cold for the october race. Not unbearably cold, but cold enough to make a tent interesting if you don't have a good sleeping bag.

Even though it's cold, I've still run a cool shirt and been thankful for it. I'll switch it on and off more often, but I still work up a sweat being in all the nomex with heat radiating off the floor.

Thursday arrival  has been an option every NHMS race I've run which is all since 2012. I'll be getting up there Thursday afternoon and have rented a camper from Karen at Leisure RV rentals. $575 Thus-Sun. totally worth it to me.

Re: 2016 Halloween Hooptiefest, who's in

We got an RV last year and it was totally awesome, especially since we didn't need a DD to get to the hotel and when we woke up we were already 25ft away from the garage.  This year we will probably get a hotel room.  Damn, I need to reserve a hotel room.

Anyway, The Carbeque will be there rubbing bodywork on transitions, alongside the Saab Maab turbo 900, the Full Nelson 96, and the Saabs of Anarchy 9000.  Hopefully we can all get a pair of garages together.  Hopefully... the Saab wing doesn't look like a bomb went off by midday Saturday.

STINKIN’ SCHINKEN will be back again and as a new member I can promise big improvements from our Audi/Yamaha 6 stroke hybrid!  Is there a way to see how many cars have entered for the event?  What do they cap it at and how close are they to filling the event?

Re: 2016 Halloween Hooptiefest, who's in

The morons who raced a stock 1998 Mercury Tracer last year are back!
The Tracer was put out of her misery and we're back this year with a sweet, sweet PT Cruiser convertible and taking on the retired moniker of the PT Losers

Also for this year we decided to not be complete buttheads, so we're raising money for Fragile X Syndrome. 100% of the funds raised go to the National Fragile X Foundation (we won't be using donations to pay for our luchador masks and hemorrhoid donuts).

You can read more about our cause on our Facebook page, which is @raceforx
You can also see the awesome video a team member (and professional video documentary-maker) made from last year's race at the link.

Can't wait to get back to the track and see some of the crazy stuff everyone came up with!

Re: 2016 Halloween Hooptiefest, who's in

The Merkurian Falcon will be there, but probably disguised as an Imperial Transport, since some moron grabbed second instead of fourth at Thompson and spun the thing into the wall and destroyed most all of the bodywork. We also have problems related to burned valves, destroyed valve seats, and lower-end blow-by on the power plant, so the totally janky spare is getting fitted, with an even crappier pile of parts yet to be assembled into a backup for the backup (probably at the track).

And I'm pretty sure Trail66 and I will be in the same meeting tomorrow at 8:30.

Team Pro Crash Duh Nation  will be there, assaulting everyone's eardrums with the Alfa V6 full tilt boogey noise. After taking a 1 race break from the Feast of St. Lemoni Pasta Fest- Its back.

Bring us your tired, dirty greasy messes yearning to eat free, the wretched refuse of your teaming paddock shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my chianti beside the meatball horde!"

Thompson was fun and we manage to take a checker for the first time in 4 races. So I'm setting my sights higher this time. For this race my goal is to not blow up and  have to change a transaxle.

Re: 2016 Halloween Hooptiefest, who's in

Bright Ideas Racing will be there for a debut effort in my recently built S10.  We've all driven at least one race, but its my first effort to field the car myself.

I've got a garage reserved, and am looking for another team to share with.

Also looking for someone who can make up vinyl graphics on the cheap, or maybe someone that likes to air brush ?

We will be there with our Integra (hopefully), its been a long 3 weeks of chasing transmission and clutch problems.  Hoping to finally have this resolved tomorrow (FINGERS CROSSED)

Side note, a buddy of ours owns the company Fizzics (www.fizzics.com) and will be sending us up with his beer dispensing machine and a ton of beers from the breweries they partner with.  Come see us after the races for a nice cool brew!

I'll be there as a spectator. Look for the rainbow Gadsden flag.

Home, not even remotely unpacked, going to go pass out for a day. Thanks for the awesome weekend everyone. It was a ton of fun trying out our new car, hopefully we didn't piss anyone off too badly with our two newbie drivers. If we did let me know so we can improve.
