Re: Real 24hour races

Pffff class.

Nickel fiends...

Class is as much about the team's ability as the cars. A car that can go faster vs. a car that can stay out longer is perfectly competitive. It's Endurance racing, the fastest don't always get to win, or even finish. And the biggest tank doesn't win either because you can have a 4 hour fuel tank, but if you stink and end up; in the grass, in the penalty box, can't find your paddock space, eat through all your tires because everyone thought someone else was taking the car for an alignment before the race, etc... You also ain't winning.

And if you have both the fastest AND the biggest fuel tank. Somethings breaking 8 out of 10 times.

Re: Real 24hour races

Racing in Lemons is evolving.  Our first race we watched a car win that wouldn't finish in the top 30 of a race now.   To compete for an overall win now takes as much skill and speed as winning an SCCA enduro.  That doesn't necessarily jive with everyone and may not be what this series should be about.   We are at that pointy end in both speed and stint length.   We have the largest legal cell.  So we're potentially part of the issue to some teams.  Our main goal last race was to be competitive with Save The TaTa's on lap times, but we're still over a second back of them.  Despite this, our reliability, 3 hour stints, and lack of black flags really led to a wide gap once the TaTa's blew up.   We will get plenty of laps at Barber to even things out I'm sure.  Classing cars is just fine (we've run every class and have an IOE, so we haven't just been "gunners" in class A).
