The only thing that I'm a purist about is oil pumps, and after getting a bad reman one I only buy new ones from Honda. The extra $40 is my price for peace of mind.

Agreed.  I tend to trust OE Ford pumps in our 460 over "new" stuff.  THink about an oil pump- it has the easiest job in the world: two dumb gears spinning together, completely immersed in oil.  If an oil pump is gonna fail, it's going to happen either in the first 100 miles, or after about 457,000 miles.
