Topic: Burnt Pig Parts aka CMP BBQ

Ok, it appears it's that time again!  Time to dust off the smokers and burn some pig parts!  Some of it may even be edible!

Terminally Confused will be cooking BBQ again at CMP.  The current plan is to burn about 120 lbs. of pig butt.  We'll also make some beans which don't suck.  This brings us to the hard part... logistics!  We need to start putting a list together of sides that others are willing to bring along to share.  So, talk to your team mom, whether male or female, and figure out your best and finest culinary contribution and sign up to bring it.  Then, at the last minute, panic and go to Walmart to get something that resembles what you promised!

Since some of you slackers will never bring anything human consumable besides race fuel to CMP, we will also be taking donations!  Heck, even if you bring copious quantities of culinary goodness, consider making a donation!  All donations will go to Lemons of Love (lemonsoflove.org)!  We'll even try to get someone prettier than I am to take your money!  So, whether you are bringing huge buckets of your favorite side dish or just massive amounts of spare(?) cash, we look forward to seeing everyone!

I put my PTO request in, still waiting for approval... but I hope to be there, with my camper, and my fryer. So, you have my bow, and my axe, and so on.

Folks seem to enjoy munching on Tunachuckers' cob, so we'll bring and make a metric crap ton of corn on the cob again.

And a huge "thank you" to Curt and the TC Gang for continuing this time-honored tradition of steaming up a huge mess of butt for the CMP race.

White bean salad again, and this time I'll remember the bacon.

Everybody grab your brooms, it's shenanigans!

Re: Burnt Pig Parts aka CMP BBQ

I'm planning to come and race in the Spec-Tator class. I'll try and whip up some desserts for the meal. I'll probably go for a couple big batches of cookies.

First time Lemons The Low Dollar Escorts will bring beans with tons of BACON or maybe I should say BACON with beans!

Re: Burnt Pig Parts aka CMP BBQ

Sputnikers will make some sort of cole slaw, and also some kind of sour-cream-laden commie salad.  Also, why is this thread dead.

Re: Burnt Pig Parts aka CMP BBQ

We are apparently lacking interest in the BBQ this year.  If I don't see more sign-ups this week, I'll assume everyone has made other plans and cut back on how much we will be cooking.  Please spread the word... I buy the meat on Wednesday.

Re: Burnt Pig Parts aka CMP BBQ

It's usually Saturday night, although generally at the September race.

Re: Burnt Pig Parts aka CMP BBQ

I have been preparing BBQ at both the spring and fall races for the last couple(3?) of years.  The gathering is always on Saturday night to ensure maximum participation.

Please continue to spread the word so we can continue this tradition.

My shop vac still smells of Curt's pork rub.  I think of him whenever I use it.

Is someone spreading the word via Zuckerface's social media dealie?  My account was locked after some...unpleasantness...so I've no idea what's going on over there.

Re: Burnt Pig Parts aka CMP BBQ

Our team is in, there are 7 of us total and we can supply a side of cash money.  Maybe we'll come up with a food item for the fall race.

As far as choosing sides goes: it'll still be over 80 degrees by the time BBQ starts. Extra bonus points for anybody who brings in a couple watermelons and keeps them in an ice-filled cooler for a few hours (if you want a simple side idea).

We have a small freezer in the RV. 3+/- should fit in there.

Hmmm I think I'll have to get the stuff to do a drunken melon! Hopefully a little less drunk than the last....it was barely edible.
