Topic: Need Help Searching For An Odd Sized Fuel Cell

In need of a vertical LeMon's legal fuel cell, and having trouble finding one. Due to size limitations, it needs to be a tall - skinny vertical one.  The only ones I can find are cheap / crappy aluminum ones (see link).  Needs to be about 24"X24"X12".  I can fudge the first two numbers a little, but the last one needs at or less than 12.

Any ideas would be great.

A stock fuel tank is not an option.

Thanks!!

Custom fuel cell:
http://fuelsafe.com/fuel-cells/custom-fuel-cells/

http://pyrotectstore.com/custom-fuel-cells/

http://www.harmonracingcells.com/custom.html

http://www.atlltd.com/C/Products/Motors … er%20Cells

You an also consider a semi-custom sell-- this is where they take an existing "plastic" bladder cell, blank off the stock fill plate location, and put the fill plate in the end of the cell, or any of the other sides you want it on. Cheaper option but not full custom.

Thank you for the reply, and the time to post the links.  Looking on a true and realistic LeMon's budget, and I think at least a couple of those sites charged my PayPal a fee just to look at them.

Great idea in the semi-custom, if I can just get a plastic liner without any holes in it I'm good to go.  Anyone here ever gone that route?

Re: Need Help Searching For An Odd Sized Fuel Cell

email those manufacturers and tell them what you want and if they offer a the semi-custom I described (alternative fill plate location on a stock dimension poly bladder cell). I was looking for something similar to what you describe, and I DID find it, but I can't remember which of the above (below?) I found it at, but at least one DOES offer it. It's an additional charge. I seem to recall that if you want them to make the outer can as well, it gets super expensive-- but the poly bladder wasn't unrealistic in price for an FIA cell and LeMons-ish budget.

Re: Need Help Searching For An Odd Sized Fuel Cell

Thanks.

I called Jaz and they will sell just the plastic bladder with no filler hole.  The only thing is due to the molding process they will have a small hole where they normally put the filler cap, but about the same size as the AN fitting, so that's easy to plug up.  The 12 gallon is about $65 and the 16 at about $85.  They told me that ordering it from a Jaz dealer might be cheaper too, and the closest one to me is Capital in MA.  If I get the 16 gallon I might get the stock metal box and modify it myself, as I have a couple spare 12 gallon assemblies kicking around.
