Topic: Fuel line type from fuel cell

What type of fuel line hose must be used if you are using a fuel cell?  Do you have to used the steal braided stuff or can you use standard rubber fuel hoses?

Re: Fuel line type from fuel cell

You can use rubber.

Most fuel cells us AN fittings which are typically larger than you need.  Hydraulic fittings are also compatible with the fittings on the tank.  I used hydraulic fittings and had several feet of fuel line crimped on.

The problem with the AN stuff, aside from being expensive, is you need to get from a large fitting on the cell down to a smaller fitting like 5/16-3/8 on the car.

A hydraulic hose was easier to make that happen than using AN stuff.

All of which are more complicated and costly than repairing or replacing your OE tank in your BMW.

Adding a gas gauge for a cell with foam was like a $150 expense alone.

A new tank for your BMW from my local O'Reilly's parts house is $266. So I suggest you shop around and keep it simple with the stock tank.
