Re: Calling all CRAZY Lemons racers... (SHORT NOTICE RACING IDEAS)

I want to wrench on that car so badly! If I wasn't broke from the BFE, I'd be on a plane in a heartbeat.

Anyone need a plasma TV? How about some Plasma, what's the going rate for that?

I went to five different clinics to give plasma today. The last place wouldn't pay me, something about having no plasma left, I dunno. I feel kinda tirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I really dig the El Camaro-bilt but it needs a functional hot tub in the back... or a stripper pole and stage.

Its pretty big - maybe both?

my only hold up is finding a reason able plane ticket from Houston on short notice.  Anyone have any leads on one?  Don't really want to drop a grand on airfare alone.

There will be plenty of help from other racers getting the El SexMaroMino ready. If the inspections aren't too hectic on Friday, I'll send Judge Sam over to help.

It's looking more doable by the minute.

What better reason than this?

Re: Calling all CRAZY Lemons racers... (SHORT NOTICE RACING IDEAS)

now thinking i should fly up there and buy something to drive back.  Where are most people flying into?

so what is the plan for: place to work on it, welding, ect?

Is it the same car that was offered on eBay in Kentucky back in 2009?

Re: Calling all CRAZY Lemons racers... (SHORT NOTICE RACING IDEAS)

It seems that, as a driver, this is a no-go.

Do you need a vaguely competent (emphasis on the vaguely) wrencher? I could probably be there from about 2 pm Friday through 5 am Saturday.

I'm not flying in there, but I have spent some time living in the general vicinity (South Bend, IN) and traveling back there from Houston after moving back here, so I have some ideas on air travel.

I'd think your best bet on short notice would be to fly from Hobby to Midway on Southwest/AirTran and drive the rest of the way at ~2.5 hrs depending on traffic.  The event page highlights AZO and SBN; I can tell you for about a certainty that SBN will be pricy (my last four trips up I've flown into ORD and driven to South Bend), and I suspect AZO would not be any better.  ORD has the advantage of being a hub and thus having a lot of options (and IAH may be more convenient for you than HOU) but the disadvantages of sucking generally and also being ~30 minutes farther away from the track.

Re: Calling all CRAZY Lemons racers... (SHORT NOTICE RACING IDEAS)

Yeah, there is no real good place to fly into. Detroit may be the closest and thats still a pretty good haul. Chicago as pointed out above as it should be a bit cheaper.

Re: Calling all CRAZY Lemons racers... (SHORT NOTICE RACING IDEAS)

Chicago might even be closer than Detroit.

Fly in to Milwaukee and take the ferry across.  http://www.lake-express.com/default.aspx
I'm sure a fellow LeMon racer will pick you up in Muskegon

Also I'll do what I can to help on this epic project.  Can I throw in $50-$100 for a short stint when I'm not driving my car.

If it doesn't have 2 doors, 3 pedals, and 5 lug nuts per wheel - It isn't a real race car

Re: Calling all CRAZY Lemons racers... (SHORT NOTICE RACING IDEAS)

Speedy. I got in touch with Anson and he and I agree that you should have prebent cage ready to pick up and take to toss in this monstrosity.

Not sure if I will be able to run up and help Friday yet as if I do I may be taking contributions for a good divorce lawyer.  tongue
