I am sorry to report that our main camerman isn't going to be able to make the event this weekend.
To pull this off we will need volunteers to help out with cameras and mics to get this working.
For Plan B we will just set the camera up in the timing and scoring building and hope for the best.

I'll be on site starting Thursday afternoon.

I'll put up a sign of some kind on the camper at the track.
I'll be one of the drivers in the CoROLLa with the Schumacker Taxi team or running video equipment during the down time.

Are you going to be providing your own Badwith?
At the last race some one was using the Tracks DSL line and comsumed all the bandwith. So that No other teams had internet access, thus not being able to update thier Teams web pages- Blogs.
Unfortunately the internet at CMP is pretty slow. We used a very low rate of 300kbps and to maximize the quality used H264 compression. The DSL at CMP will do about 500kbps UP.
The real problem at the spring event wasn't the outgoing bandwidth we used but was all the people on the infield trying to watch the video on their smartphones and computers instead of walking over to the fence. That is what crashed the router several times and made sending out the video challenging for us. I eventually had to restrict the number of people allowed on the internet at once during the webcast to make it so we could send video and Murlee could update his site.
I hope we can make an announcement before the event asking everyone to not watch the live video at the track itself. That should make it so everyone else can update their blogs and websites with no problem.
To add to the last post, we will happily work with anyone that needs to get online and post something. We don't want to make things hard for anyone else at the event.
The spring CMP webcast was awesome. I will be WAY too busy this weekend building my Lamest Day car to watch though. Thanks TGs for getting me hooked!
Interesting. I went up to the tower at the last event and asked why the router was not allowing people to connect. They stated it was being used for the outgoing webcast only and they were not going to allow any one to attach.
So getting some sort of process in place would be great. Event if its a schedule at set times Teams will be allowed to access the Wireless rounter to post to their team sites- Blogs.
The CHAT is up now on the webcast page for the weekend (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/24-hour-lemons-south). We will make it as interactive as possible. If we don't have anyone to work the camera it will be just locked down and pointed at the track. Its better than nothing right?
Friday we will have it trained on the tech/judging area.

Glad you liked it. I got a lot of emails about the webcase afterwards. Several notes indicated car projects for future races would start immediately.
Now if we could only get some sponsors so we could do even more with the idea...

Sorry for missing the curse on the webcast. I brought the long range wireless stuff this time but I was working on the CoROLLa with the rest of the team trying to fix a blown head gasket.
We will do better next time.
On the plus side we did record the entire webcast so I have plenty of footage to go through to make the remix show. It should take a couple of weeks to get together. I'll post up the schedule as soon as I know.

I'm working on the highlight show. We recorded the entire event as it was webcast. Lots of video to go though.
What do you want to see in the show? I'll work in as many of the suggestions as possible. If you have any video you want to donate to the show let me know and we will work out the best way to get it to me. I would especially like video of stuff going on in the pits. Working on cars, chatting about the event, stuff like that. Also some curse video would be great. We were working to the the CoROLLa running during the curse so we didn't get to shoot it.
