Re: Being taken out by the #42 Purple RX-7

Accept some blame for that...  Where did you expect them to go?  Slow up and be sure you can pass without incident.  Sure, you give up the position.  But you know that you won't spend time in the pits/talking to the judges.

Nearly the same incident at the same spot: http://schumachertaxiservice.com/vids/OMG_CARTMAN.wmv

edit: kind of nevermind - your driver didn't realize that the RX7 lost control did they...

We won the IOE at Southern Discomfort.
We got screwed at The Real Hoopties of New Jersey  and we took cars down with us.
We got the curse at Capitol Offense but they wouldn't let us destroy the car.

Did you visit their pit and talk to them about it?  There is generally more than one side to the story, and like you said, they could have had an issue causing them to snap right into you...or not.

We haven't had a decent video camera in one of our cars in a little while.  I'll post some new stuff up after NL.

Correct.  From my point of view, we were all pointed straight.  Couldn't see that he had just induced a tank slapper.  From the vid, I can see him turn out too early and then try to keep it on track.  May have gotten a wheel in the dirt.  IDK.

We were the first ones in the pits, so the judges didn't know what actually happened and refused to watch the video when it was offered...  Oh well, I can only hope that this weekend will be cleaner!  (rain, faster track, dark....  we'll see!)

Re: Being taken out by the #42 Purple RX-7

Ummm... it's Lemons, not SCCA.  This shouldn't be a surprise... or even a disappointment.  It sounds like you only lost a few minutes at the judging stand.  Hardly anything to complain about.

I gouged a rather large hole into the door of the Labrats.  I was happy that the damage was only cosmetic.  If it wasn't they would have had my help getting back on the track.

Later in the race we received a similar gouging from the Vorpal Bunny.

That’s really cool that you say that.  The BMW team in the Paddock spot next to us at CMP got smacked in the door similar to your photos.  They did the right thing and came into the judge’s station without seeing the black flag.  The team that hit them snuck back to their paddock spot, looked over the damage to their front end, and snuck back onto the track (never went to see the judges.)

Both teams were in the paddock within a few cars from each other and the other team knew they were at fault.  They never came over to the BMW team to apologize or to acknowledge the incident.

Just goes to show the difference in mentality between a team with class (you) and one without.

LOL.  I'd almost expect that from SCCA!  Anyway, all I said was that it cost us time (~10 min according to the video).  Not whining.  However, if we had those 9-10 laps back, we would've finished 4th instead of 7th smile

Which would have put us in 5th instead of 4th...

However - IF we didn't have to come into the pits because our transponder wasn't working properly, we would have finished 3rd, which would have put the current 3rd place car in 4th, which would have made you guys 5th.

However - IF Team Eurotrash hadn't been hit the same way you guys would have, they would have finished 5th (at the time they were one place behid us.)  Which would have put them in 6th (or would you guys now be in 6th?).

However - SkoolBoyzracZing told me IF they didn't blow a head gasket, had better brakes, and if their car handled better, they could easily be a top 5 team.  So, that puts you at 7th (or you at 6th and Eurotrash at 7, I think.)

However......

Re: Being taken out by the #42 Purple RX-7

Yea we got one also,  But it cost us a HOUR. and we were the one that got hit.. Not cutting across a turn. we were taking the  outside because I knew there was a car on the inside. We were on the far outside edge of 1 ? and got hit by the REd ford escort.
http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb295/bam2002/Lemons%20south/Sidedamage.jpg

It apears the Inside cars are the one seem be hitting the outside cars.. By looking at the sides of the car that are hit. Yes I know thd car could also have cut across to the inside lane and ran into the front of the other car getting the same type of hit. But my money is on the inside car went to Hot into a corner and could not hold its line and hit the outside car..
That is what happened to me.

Re: Being taken out by the #42 Purple RX-7

Lemons racing has way less contact than it used to.

Car was beautiful before the race...after, not so much -->

Our car in 2007 Altamont race after 1 day.

It got a lot uglier AFTER the curse, but still, contact was way down, and we only had one contact with another car that hit us from behind.

This is fast becoming the Lemons whiner thread... is it a coincidence there are BMW pictures piling up here? smile

Well maybe the BMWs can outbrake most of the cars on the track. So when the drag race down the straight away happens and those that think they can late brake in a Ford escort stay side by side with the BMW find out they are wrong .  AKA  the front wheels break loose and plow into the car next to them.  Oh and there were about 12 BMWs in the race.. So its bound to happen, law of averages.
Im not whining.. Ill just make sure  I am on the inside from now on so I know that the laws of momentum are on my side. Not whining a lesson learned for next time.

That was actually aimed at the thread starter... Seems like BMW guys reputation is porting over from street cars to Lemons wink

Actually, you are learning what I am learning.. It really doesn't matter how fast you are, or how good your car is. If it is at least average, doesn't break, and you have good pit stops and no flags, you can win.. Witness the totally average Nissan that just won... They had all the right stuff. I think we were 7sec a lap faster, and they whupped us anyway!
