Re: A new chapter begins...

Yeah, I should have looked closer, that's not an M50. Must be an M52. At first I thought it was non-VANOS since it doesn't have the valve cover bump like the M50 VANOS, but I forgot the M52 has it hidden under that black cover. Even better smile

That's the hope.  Plan is to have it track ready by April 1st so we can do a little testing at Autobahn.

I'm a little worried all the extra HP won't really translate into an improvement in total laps, but at this point we don't really care.

We just wanna go fast.  (If only for a few laps and then pit to fix whatever is going to break.)

Time for more updates.  Today we prepared the Metro for front end fabrication.

First we removed the front frame rails from a 300K+ mile E36.

Here is an example of one of our donors we'll need to mate to the Metro.

Trying to plan the mockup of the frame rail.

Our gutted donor.

The subframe mocked in place. (ok... Waaaay out of place, but we are starting to get the idea.)

We get it positioned with struts attached and control arms approximated.  Nice offset, huh?

Might as well bolt up some E36 M3 rims!  wink

We'll need at least 225-50/16 up front to handle this...

We hope to get our fabricator in to attach frame rails, and plan for rebuilding tranny tunnel and firewall.

Tuesday we'll begin sandblasting and rebuilding our 300K+ mile calipers, and some select suspension components.
