Video quality looks good to me!
Short version: Resolution isn't everything. Lenses and sensors are very important to end video quality too.
I haven't used the camera, but be wary of things with big resolutions in small packages. It's easy to cram a high-res CCD on a chip, but if the physical sensor is very small, you end up getting a video so noisy that you may as well have bought a cheaper device. The overall quality won't really be any worse than a lower-res device, but it might not be worth paying a big premium just because of higher resolution. But if the thing is cheap, go for it.
It looks great on youtube (640x360), but it's not like you'll be able to see the sun-damage cracks on your dash with it like you might with a big-size camcorder.
And it doesn't come out till November 16th. (I wanted one for THill)
I use a JVC camcorder with DV tapes on a roll bar mount.

I think the Gnomes use one of those cameras.
