Topic: The schedule on Google Docs

OK, I tried to post this to the stickie, but some people can't seem to UNDERSTAND.

This is a spreadsheet in Google Drive. Its LIMITED public available (must have the link)  for you to read, and EDIT.  it requires that anybody looking at it, respect the information there and only put in what YOU are doing, not what you know others are doing.

Again, you can edit this and F**k it up. So only put in what you are doing.

here is the link:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc … HdGc#gid=0

To add information just type it into a cell. If you make a mistake just highlight and delete, or hit CTRL - Z (reverses the last operation).

The basic idea is for people to be able to see where the car will be, and who is getting it from that location to the next. If it is traveling in a piecewise plan (Denver to Chicago, then Chicago to Philly, then Philly to Summit Point).

EACH segment should be on one line (one Row), so it has a clear starting point and a clear ending point.

IF you need to add a row, for more segments between races, click on the row number, which highlights the row, then RIGHT click your mouse, and select "Insert 1 row below".  Then you can fill in the new Row with your information.

IF there is something not right (like the two segment transport in rows 10 and 11 (between North Dallas Hooptie, and Loundon, NH)
FIX IT, buy putting in the correct info.

So Again, I built this, YOU EDIT IT, it helps everyone see WTF is going on in one place

Re: The schedule on Google Docs

as does mine.

we KNOW brandon / jackasic is racing the car at BFE
we KNOW steve / LeMonster is racing the car at Buttonwillow
we KNOW escape velocity racing / SpaceFrank is racing the car at MSR
we KNEW the car was not racing at Loudon last weekend

having a schedule of incomplete and/or inaccurate information is not particularly helpful.

I KNOIW I'm signed up to prep the K car for the season ender at Chuckwalla

I DON'T know how I'm getting it from Road America to So Cal, but preliminary thoughts are that I'm flying out to RA and driving the K car home to Escondido.

NSF, Psychoboy, and I all have google accounts and, while signed-in, cannot edit this inaccurate document.  All three of us are somewhat interweb saavy - there should be an easier way.

Thats wierd. Today mine is view only as well.

What info is needed to be shared and updated? I'm sure we can find a way to host that data directly on the forum.

I made a copy of the document and added everyone in this thread as editors. You should be able to fix everything as needed and add any additional editors.

Thanks, but I'll just f*ck it up.

Re: The schedule on Google Docs

I'm still seeing it as view only, but I really have nothing to add at this point anyway. If you need my google username, it's 'frank thomas 1986' with no spaces.

You're good now Frank.

Re: The schedule on Google Docs

Ah, Sorry, I had y'all as "view" not "edit". I fixed that, so now everyone with the link has "edit" privileges. the link again.

I copied all the information and commentary from Spacefranks version and pasted it into the original. So right now they are the same. We should pick one and go with that and delete the other.. I'm OK either way.

So again, try plugging in useful information about the transport, where your team is located, or where you need the car if you aren't transporting. Spacefrank added an awards column, but this wasn't necessarily a Historical record, as much as it is a planning sheet. So award tracking is optional. BUT should we track engine changes, the key to the future teams is knowing what engine is in the car so they can plan for spares?

I made the version on my profile read-only since the permissions have been fixed on the original one.

Someone else added the awards column. All I did was fix some typos.
