Thanks for thanks for doing this and taking the time to share it too!

What are you using for an O-scope?  When I've messed with MCUs in the past, I always come to a problem where I need to look at signals to debug something and the price of a scope stops me dead.

Re: Anyone to waste time on DIY engine control unit?

For most of the tasks here you do not need a full scope - I do not have one, I am too cheap for that. A logic analyzer would do the trick - something like http://www.ebay.com/itm/24MHz-8CH-USB-L … 0956566562

No, seriously.

It's already worked out for you.  Sorta mostly.

I will have a unit with me @ Gingerman this weekend if anyone wants to look at it.

While rusEfi has now started four engines, there is still a LOT to do to make it a useable EMS. Need software developers pretty badly sad

Re: Anyone to waste time on DIY engine control unit?

I'm gonna hit you up offline in the next day or two. We are working on a 100% complete ground up custom engine controller for the Chrysler. Our Canadian teammate is doing the hardware and basic software while I'm taking on the main application controls. We are hoping to have a working product ready for autobahn.

I wish i was following this thread more closely so I hold have checked out your setup last weekend.

Also, I can gladly help support any control logic or basic sw drivers that you might need assistance with.

I know! Our team even uses a pseudo Soviet logo,  you'd think we would have figured this out already between the two of us. To be fair, we've been spending more time fixing the dam Chrysler in the pits than we have socializing lately.

Re: Anyone to waste time on DIY engine control unit?

I think I still have the same reservation on it.

The physical build doesnt worry me.  But I am not a programmer. If the basis is there, I can work on the inputs and setup the fuel table and such.  If I have to do something from scratch I am out.  I cannot read the code, so I am not sure what all you show there and what would need to occur to make this all work.  Can you explain that a little more?

Re: Anyone to waste time on DIY engine control unit?

At this point some soldering would be required: you would need to solder either your connector or your harness to the board - that's if you are getting an assembled board. If you are starting with a bare PCB, you would need to mount all the components. https://www.tindie.com/stores/russian/

No, you would not need to be a coder: you would not need to read or write any code. If any code is missing it would be our job to add it, what you would need to provide would be the tune and specs on all the sensors. Your would be configuring rusEfi using either TunerStudio or our own console application.

Re: Anyone to waste time on DIY engine control unit?

Brief update: we've tested our power supply & main chip schematics and we will now work on a full self-contained board for an older OEM ECU case.

Frankenso is a Frankenstein board for older oem Denso ECU case, this one has power supply and knock detonation chip on-board.

We have a release candidate so I would appreciate if anyone with EE skills could review it smile http://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=569

Re: Anyone to waste time on DIY engine control unit?

This new board is even functional:

Just need a better base tune.

PSA: this car debuts this ECU @ NJMP next weekend. What could possible go wrong? You might want not to be directly in front or directly behind this vehicle.

Come on man, I have a ton of confidence everything is gonna be fine with the ECU, we have tested it, we have driven it, we have done a ton with it....the ECU is one of the last things I am worried about!!!
