As a former Autozoner, I can tell you that it almost certainly depends on the store.

"Limited lifetime warranty" technically only covers manufacturing defects.  We had people that would bring in worn out pads and rotors and expect free replacements, and we were told to explain that unless one of the pads fell apart or the rotor cracked or something like that, it wasn't covered by the warranty. 

Meanwhile, the store down the street would exchange absolutely anything, no questions asked, as many times as you want.


THIS ^^^^^  plus the fact that if you read most lifetime warranties on brakes they require you to replace all hardware at the time of original installation.  Again, this is something that is usually very dependant on which store you are dealing with.
