Topic: Ride along with the Black Iron Racing MRsaki Bomb - Sonoma 2014

We fought some brake issues all weekend, some shifter issues on Sunday. Still not too bad of a result for our second event with this car. We all got some good seat time, had plenty of fun.

There are clickable shortcuts to the highlights in the youtube description:

Dan in the Kawasaki Ninja powered Toyota MR2. Porterfield R4E brake pads glazed over enough by the 21:00 minute mark to boil the fluid in turn 7. No harm, no foul!

Highlights:
start = waiting through some yellows before getting by multi-race winning Cervesa
2:30 = Amazon MR2 shooting flames
6:30 = chasing down eventual race winning Porch Racing 944
7:15 = car ahead locks up in turn 11
9:30 = car ahead locks up into the booby trap
12:10 = a lap of heavy traffic (about 20 passes?)
14:50 = 666 camaro "muscles" through some cars
16:10 = southworst gets my lens dirty through the esses
19:40 = #65 RX7 drives by me like I'm standing still
21:20 = trip down the drag strip ends in a brake pedal on the floor and a nice safe runoff
24:10 = self reporting to the penalty box before heading to the pits to fix the brakes
26:45 = sweet yamaha 65 pit bike (speed video up for timelapse of the clouds and pit stop action!)

BTW, this was recorded using my new gopro clone camera. $112 on Amazon. Has a screen on the back and wifi control/remote viewing. Camera and mounts are interchangable with gopro.

Quick question about he camera, did you hardwire it into you car for power, or did you take it off and charge it?

We didn't hardwire this camera in - too fancy for the likes of us - battery power only. It gets variously mounted on the hood or driver's helmet and we don't run it for 100% of all driving stints, although we probably should.

The car is an 85 (86?) MR2 with a Ninja motor in the passenger seat. There's only about 10 pounds of steel holding the spool out in space between the rear wheels that compromises the only things that aren't stock a) Toyota, b) motorcycle or c) volvo parts. Because everybody knows the only way to make a sportbike powered MR2 go faster, is to add volvo parts.
