Thanks for the advice, I was once told not to put more into the car than I would miss if it rolled off of a cliff so it has been a labor of love and a lets see if I can do this kind of thing. Oh and Shhhhhh if you know I'm still not saying exactly what it is.

My first attempt at Krinkle finish. The side braces for the dash, plus I had some leftover edge trim from some side flares that we put on a car at our shop.

HAHAHA Thanks, It looks plenty cheaty enough just because of how clean and nicely painted I'm making it. The plan is to make this thing street legal so I was making it nice just in case I need to do some parades or something like that. Or I may just sell it some time after it's debut I don't know yet. Although plans are to make the race at the Corvette museum the end of next year so I know I'll keep it that long.

So I was perusing the other pages on the forum here and came across another build. The question was asked about building something for the car out of fiberglass. My question would be since I have to cover the top of a convertible and I built the top out of fiberglass does that count towards my total cost of the build? I've seen other cars with make shift roofs on their convertibles but will I get penalized for building mine to resemble a real hard top?

Yes. They will ban you from being allowed to race.
On a more serious note, do not assume they will allow you run without arm restraints...probably will but might not.

Good point, I will get them just in case. Beats scrambling around trying to get them at the track. I've got to build up the budget now so the pics may be a bit slower coming in. Although I'm not to far away from having the engine ready to fire up. Getting the injectors cleaned out from 180,000 miles of road rage driving. I will be starting on the body work soon and that should get interesting. I wonder if I put some kind of other material under the roof panel for roll over protection if they would let me run without arm restraints? Maybe straps?

Honestly, you do not even notice they are there when racing and it adds about 2 seconds to belt in times. Email Evil Genius if that seems a problem and get a ruling if a fiberglass hard top is sufficient.
Well you know I was worried about shaving that last second off of our pit times but since we're being banned I guess I wont worry about it 
So what do you guys think, stay with the stock dash or install the nice aluminum one that I bought from Jegs? I feel like the aluminum one will evoke the wrath of Kahn upon my valuation
