Topic: 1989 Ford Probe w/Vulcan V6 & manual trans $2000, Tyler TX
We have a fully caged, Lemons qualified 1989 Ford Probe, manual with a V6 swapped in from a Ford Taurus for sale. We bought this from another Lemons team who raced it for 6 or 8 Lemons races. We have had it for 3 years and had it in 4 races. It's a blast to drive and is surprisingly competitive in B class. Every race we have had it in the judges have loved it, making it easy to pass tech/bs tech with no bribes.
Iron block 3.0L v6
5 speed manual ( freshly rebuilt + a new clutch)
4 wheels from a 90's 300zx
5 OEM probe wheels. All have tires, some better than others.
freshly turned rotors on all four corners, plus 1 set of new rear rotors, 1 used set of slotted front rotors
Porterfield endurance brake pads with approx half life left (we have gotten 3 races on this set with only 1/2 pads used)
Misc brake calipers
1 new power brake booster
recently replaced brake master cylinder
1 spare alternator
1 spare distributor and wires
2 spare ECUs
1 new spare brake master cylinder
Brand new radiator
Spark Evo seat on a slider
3 year old cam-style harness.
Fresh fire extinguisher
Plus a bunch of random stuff that will all come with the vehicle
We overheated in our last race due to us improperly filling the coolant after a complete flush resulting in the need for a new head gasket.
But, the good of the bad is we have all brand new parts for an engine refresh (all new gaskets, et cetera) that will come with the vehicle. We fully planned on fixing it but with all of our members in different life stages at the moment, we decided to take this opportunity to bow out and perhaps try again later when things slow down for us. Another option would be to swap in another v6 from any old taurus, which are in abundance at any salvage yard.
We have had a ton of fun in this car, it is easy to drive, dependable, predictable, and easy on consumables (tires/brakes). Being front wheel drive, this car is highly competitive in the rain. We were literally lapping the A class cars in the rain during our last race. Parts swap between the mazda mx6 coupe and the taurus. Parts still readily available through rockauto.com and salvage yards.
Asking $500 for the car and $1500 for the safety equipment included.
