Bay Area shop for A/C refrigerant removal/purging

I just picked up a new hooptie to start building into our second Lemons car and I would like to remove the A/C refrigerant, so I can remove all the compressor/condenser/piping junk.

Does anyone know of a shop in the (SF) Bay Area that will remove the stuff for free or close to it? Surely this R134a stuff is worth something to them.

A random local shop I called quoted me ~$250, which isn't compelling me to "do the right thing" and not just go with the obvious solution here.
