Topic: Backstay angle question??

The way everything layed out with the car and the plates (which land on the frame) im at a 50 degree angle. I know the rules say to be right around 45. So what kind of leeway do they give on the angle???

Re: Backstay angle question??

You will be fine with 50 degrees.   They don't get out a protractor to check.

And knowing how janky, and/or iron curtain cold war surplus the protractor would probably be, 5 degrees is well within measuring error.

Thanks guys.

Re: Backstay angle question??

Just for argument's sake, FIA Article 253 regs state

They  must  form  an  angle  of  at  least  30°  with  the  vertical,
must run rearwards and be straight and as close as possible
to the interior side panels of the bodyshell.

I offer this because the moke was built really tall and I had to make sure I could still get the backstays at a safe angle. I'm at 34-35 degrees from vertical.  I'm not saying it is ideal, but FIA claims it is within their "safe" range.

You're fine. Numerous 40/50 cars out there at Lemons events...hundreds.
