Topic: Kirkey 65 Series Adjustable Road Race Seat

Trying to source a seat for the 1989 Corvette, and was looking for a 47 series Kirkey in 18".  That seat is discontinued per local dealer and its replacement is the 65 series "adjustable".  The new 65 series is available in 18.5".  Now the seat height and recline can be adjusted, but it is a bolted assembly.  The seats are now sold with the cover included.

Question
Can I use a 65 series Kirkey seat in Lemons?

Re: Kirkey 65 Series Adjustable Road Race Seat

Ask john@evilgeniusracing.com but I don't see any reason why not.  But I see a lot of vendors that still list the 47900 (18" Series 47 seat).  It's a lot cheaper.

My first reaction was Hell No when you mentioned adjustable, but this looks like it would be ok seeing as it is fixed in position once adjusted. But that being said the official ruling will come from tech so best to run it by jeff@24hoursoflemons.com

My guess will be if they do allow it you'll need a full time back support.

One-piece, purpose-built racing seats with properly located, factory-provided shoulder-harness holes are mandatory.

Based on strict interpretation of the rules, I would say the answer is no, but as always, Pagel has the final word.

Not sure where you get the idea that the 65 Series seat wouldn't be compliant in that manner as it has the same two shoulder harness holes that the 47 Series had.  If anything, to me the 65 Series seat looks stronger than the 47 Series it replaced.  What's adjustable in it is the height so that the shoulder belt holes and wings can be changed to fit your torso length but it's all bolted together so it's not an on-the-fly type adjustable..

I wasn't saying it was non-compliant because of the shoulder-harness holes. I was saying it's non compliant because it's a bolted assembly and therefore not a one piece seat.

I asked Pagel, he says they're good.
