Topic: Gingerman and tire wear

Hey guys got a quick question. Few team members had some ideas and were looking at a gingerman race. Anyways we were curious on tires. We have ran cmp which is a cheese grater and we need two sets of tires for the weekend with lots of flipping and rotating. We also ran barber where its smooth and ran a set of left overs from cmp and a fresh set. We did cord a front left still at barber but we never rotated tires. Car is heavy and on small tires. So how bad is the surface there?

Gingerman wears out one front faster than the others but overall, most cars go all weekend with tires to spare if you rotate.

Early in the year gingerman when the track is still green it is hard on the driver side front, later in the year it is a bit better.  Usually we just swap fronts and backs after Saturday and never have an issue

Yea, with ZII Star specs on our big Fox t-bird, the only tire that's a total loss at the end of the weekend is the one Driver Front.

Slamming in a bunch of Negative Camber helped a lot, but that one will be dead.

So looks like for our car. 4 of our current used ones and a fresh set. Really need to modify some upper control arms to get more than the -1 degree of camber.

We rotate our tires after Saturday, but we are on the same set of Hankook RS3's after 2 full races and easily another left in them. The deluge last fall helped immensely. This year, though, we are running a staggered setup, so the RS3's will run out their lives in just the rear. Yokohama's up front...we will see what these Advans are all about.
