Topic: Bedding brakes on jack stands

Just wondering what the collective knowledge of the Lemons community is on this...

Car is not street legal, and probably not the best to do during the race, or Friday practice....
I use EBC yellow (after trying Carbotech, and Porterfield)....usually last approx. 2 races, wear nicely, stop smoothly...

Won't work. You just can't get the kind of load needed to do the job. Breaks work bringing the CAR to a stop, not just the wheels, Gotta get them rotors and pads toasty and solidly loaded. If you're not being crazy there's usually a back road in the paddock that's away from people and relatively straight.

Re: Bedding brakes on jack stands

EBC Yellows bed pretty easily, so you should be just fine with a handful of hard stops. Two or three from 20 to zero, three or four more from 40. Maybe on the entrance road to the track.

Re: Bedding brakes on jack stands

Just get out in the head of the field on the first day and do it during the parade laps leading up to the green flag. Let the car behind you know what you are doing by slowly braking the first time and wiggle your steering. Most other drivers will recognize what you are doing and back off to give you room. You won't be the only car in that line bedding brakes just before the start.

If you stay on the entrance road instead of going through the tunnel there is around 2 miles of twisty road back there and it's gated so you won't end up on public roads. Just don't get lost, stay on the 4 lane section. Not sure if an employee will stop you or not though. They might not want any hoopties beyond the tunnel.

It says right in the race info section for NH that no car leaves the inner paddock that isn't registered and insured. Do not piss off the track by roaming around in a race car erratically speeding up and stomping on the brakes.
