With a cage, I don't think an extra pillar is doing you a ton of good.

Since I'm smaller than some, I get to crawl over and around the cage to do stuff in the back seat area....I'd prefer a sedan or at least be 15 years younger

If you haven't gutted your doors, you'd be surprised. Cars are designed to withstand a side impact without killing you. If you still have the crash bars in the door and all the structure in the B-pillar, a lighter side hit can be the difference between "i need a new door" and "the cage was touched, throw it away." In a heavy hit that pushes into the cage, sure, doesn't really matter. But more metal between me and that other car is always a good thing.
