Topic: Roll Cage Question.

Are you allowed to box the spreader plates? This is a common practice in formula drift, (might be common everywhere?) Where you build the entire cage short, assemble and weld together and then raise it and build spreader plate boxes that are welded to the frame?

I guess I can't attach a photo so I'll just link to the document for example.

The word of the day is "plinth"

They have to be totally boxed,  front, back all around, welded 360 degrees  with no burn through and be at least 1/8" thick

Re: Roll Cage Question.

Learn something every day. Thanks for the word.

I was under the impression that they just needed to meet a spreader plate not necessarily be plinthed.

Re: Roll Cage Question.

Not necessarily they don't, but if you do put it on a plinth ya gotta do it like they says to.
