Topic: My v12 without a car so far

So I have a v12 with gearbox and 50lbs of wiring. That's 550ish lbs?

At the moment this sits on two Harbor Freight dollies which are bending.

Eight small caster wheels are NOT providing a good rolling experience.
Would it be way better if I replace eight small caster wheels with four larger wheels? What kind of wheels (if any) would allow one person to roll around 250kg load on the floor?

Re: My v12 without a car so far

550 sounds low.  I think the M-B is the lightest of the Lemons grade V12s and its 500.  Jag is 800.  I'd add a couple hundred pounds to your estimate.

Re: My v12 without a car so far

you need to stop the dollies bending. When they bend the casters stop being aligned with each other and they want to naturally sit at different angles, which makes it a pain to move. For reference, those casters are similar size to the ones on the wheel dollies I often put the race car on, which weighs 3400lbs, which I have no problem moving around a shop by myself. Bigger wheels will help with rolling resistance however.

If you want to over-complicate the situation, grab some box section, make your own dollies, and put on the larger casters. If you want easy, just grab some metal wheel dollies and use those to put the engine on.

Let's figure out a way to get the Prius to you.

Am I the only person who sees this as some sort of crazy Lemons Rorschach Test? What do you see when you look at this picture?

Bump - looking for people willing to drop this engine into something "appropriate".

Appropriate?!?!?!?!

This is Lemons, it needs to go into something completely stupid. The Javelin has an engine now, so it's too late for that car.

Re: My v12 without a car so far

Not sure a standard engine dolly would bolt up. I'm guessing your easiest fix would be to add some beef to your existing platform. Larger wheels and more bracing. As what to drop it in, get looking on C-list. I hope you have a ton of fab skills, if not you might bet better off selling all of that and use the money on something else. My 1st thought would be some sort of old PU truck, as they have strong frames.

I like that idea. There was also a guy on one of the unofficial Facebook  forums that has a BMW E90 with no drive train that could use a power plant .
