Topic: transponder check - is it possible to check transponder registration?

Just scored a TranX160 at a swap meet!

I know they can be used successfully without a Mylaps registration, but there's benefits to registration.      The guy said it had never been registered with Mylaps, so he didn't have any logon/password info.

Since i know they can only be registered once, and never changed, Is there any way to check to see if it's already registered to some account, short of actually trying to register it?   

I haven't decided whether i'm going to keep it, or sell it yet.    I already have one for our car, but it's registered to some unknown account that i can't access.
