Topic: My solution to the new door bar rule

Good? Bad? Ugly? I think it'll be fine once it's fully welded in... it's just tacked now. Tech folks, feel free to tell me if it'll fail....

Re: My solution to the new door bar rule

ya, that'll do... Sure you don't want one a little higher though? Its amazing how easy this stuff bends in a hit and I'd worry a big car bumper going right over the top of that.... Consider a dash bar too, and tie the cage to the pillars to make it safer yet and stiffen the chassis more.

Re: My solution to the new door bar rule

I'm probably going to run a bar from the rearmost brace between the door bars and put it in plane with the harness bar. Triangles are cool, and I think that'll do a bit to keep higher-bumpered cars from murdering us in the car. Another bar higher up makes it almost impossible to get out of the car quickly because of how low you sit. Dashbar is coming too, as well as possibly attaching the a pillar bars to the actual a pillar. We'll see how much time I have left.

Re: My solution to the new door bar rule

The bar looks good, but I'm with Spinnetti, I'd go higher with it.  I know it will be slightly tougher to get in and out, but it will also have a better chance of keeping other cars out as well.

I was wondering too, how you get in and out.. I'm a big guy, but I just find it a lot easier to just go in and out the window. Easier to sit on the window sill going in and out to position your feet too. This also makes the height of the bars for entry a non-issue....

e.g. this is my road race car....
