Re: Firewall question

I gotta agree that radiator location could be better.  For Freezapalooza, it might be great.  Realistically, looks a little to close for comfort tome.

In general for guys try to run remote radiators, consider a raw water pump for a boat.  Some are belt driven and some bolt directly to the harmonic balancer.  They use a rubber impeller and move a lot of water!

As far as the fuel tank goes, we have a non-FIA approved cell in the back ouf our Z.  Most of it's under the car.  The bit in the hatch is covered by a metal cover with a lid to get to the filler.  it's passed tech 3 times.  Keep in mind it is way in the back of the hatch away from the driver too.  I put in some 1" box rails to mount it too and we beefed up our rear bumper and have an inner bar just inside the hatch for rear-end protection.

I'd think it has to  be easier to reinforce the trunk on a BMW and mount the tank back there then put it so close to the driver.

You could be the second flaming BMW.

At Reno-Fernley, a roof rad saved our race (#15 PontiHack Fiero). We started wrenching after the green flag dropped and it cost us 60 laps. It was very effective and easy to plumb. Judge Martin has the photo evidence....

Why didn't GM install Fiero radiators on the roof at the factory? Looks great, and the cooling is much improved!

Let us not forget the "wing style" radiator!

We're in the process of responding to this one directly, but to all current and future forum users, the short answer is, don't do this. I'm gonna close the topic so that future searchers can get a quick answer.
