Topic: 1.50 X .120 roll cage e30

Are we determining the weight of a car by the scale at the city dump... or are we counting the gross vehicle weight listed in the door.  I don't have an 1.75 tube dye, and don't feel like forking out the 450 bucks for it.  is 1.50 x .120 acceptable on a 4 door e30?  anybody pass tech this year with a 1.50x.120 cage in an e30???

Race weight. Our stripped E30 weighs 2200-2300 with cage. You'd have to add a trunk full of bricks to your car to weigh enough to require the thicker tubing.

Our car has passed tech with 1.5x.120 twice just fine.

The GVW label on the door jam is the MAX the vehicle is rated for including all options, passengers, and cargo.  Use the truck scales to determine your race weight, but don't forget to add the cage, theme, fuel, and any other crap you plan on putting in the car after weighing it.

It is virtually impossible to build  Lemons E30 that weighs 3000+ lbs.  Removing the glass, interior, headlights, tail lights, etc. will definitely put you in the sub 2500lb range.

With that said,  the tech inspector at Stafford stood there with caliper in hand claiming that our 1.5x.120 cage "looked a little thin" until my wallet was empty.
