Pendejo Engineering will be in the garage closest to the tower if anybody needs to cool down. We are bringing a swamp cooler that is designed to cool a barn and will have two swimming pools filled with ice water to fall in after your turn on the track. We will also have tons of drinks on hand also so no reason for anybody to not stay hydrated.

Back in the good ol' days my grandpa would go down to the local shop and get a big ass block of ice. Put a fan behind it and keep the room semi cool. Or atleast he was cool.

Modern designs are basically a carboard plate with water saturating it and a giant fan pulling air through the saturated cardboard. I have one behind me at work right now. Drops the air temp by around 20 degrees... if you're in the shade and no wind. Otherwise they are pointless.

Swamp coolers work great as long as the humidity is low. I guess i should have said chiller, it keeps the mo cows at a nice 64 deg all day long! Thats why california cows make great cheese smile

If you think about it all the teams doing this race have actually worked there asses off, built cool cars, volunteered and paid to race in 100 Deg plus heat. We are sooooo cool!

Yeah, it's hot, but some of the races at Altamont were hotter.

Uh, so I guess we're the only ones still working on the car? Still no brakes (did install the master cyl last night but need to run the lines to the rear of the car), engine has only run for 20 min so far, tranny untested. no clutch hydraulics yet, no lap belt locations yet, no place to mount the shocks... We're doing what we can, though.

Damn Spank... I gotta admire your determination. I hope to see you out on the track!

Yeah, I'm done working on our car. Now I have to collect spare parts (borrowing most of them), organize tools, and pick up our borrowed truck and trailer.

Can I buy the MINI from you when you are done with it??

I wish I could afford to race my 02 competitively

Wheels and tires dont count and its stock other than those lol. You should see some of the rust holes and the body damage on the other side of the car smile Plus its an Automatic!!

Re: Buttonwillow is less than two weeks away.... Why so quiet? (Crickets)

Actually, it is a manual -- a 3-syncro manual, but a manual. As for the rust-- not sure if we can leave them (since our cage is more or less the whole car and everything is affixed to it) or if we have to patch them up (ie door sills). Bringing 2 welders to help us do the needed tech repairs. Just don't want to weld up too much. Kinda takes away the ambiance.
