It originally sold for $500 (no paperwork) and I went with the guy to go get it. He wanted to cut it up and use it as a trailer, so I swapped him a back end already cut off (that was given to me) and I also swapped him a 1275 automatic out of an Austin America that I scrapped, so I got the shell for no $ outlay because the America I bought for $350 but then cut it up and parted it out for +/- $400-- gotta dig out those old ebay receipts for the BS tech inspection!

The front end came as a complete front cut out of Otay Mesa for $250, but bores were crusty but we got those cleaned up and it's back together. not sure how long it'll last, but it's together with a lot of shadetree engineering

Water from blown cooling systems would be my guess.

We bought the special self tapping screws that when they fall off they are only able to stick to E30 tires. All other makes and models are ok.

Don't worry about that! They are fixed and ready for action. When you have a shop full of NASCARS and E36 GTS cars it is amazing what you find in the used parts pile smile

Getto is beautiful. Building these pieces-o-crap to stay on the track is the fun part. That is why we picked a car that had zero chance of lasting or even winning to run in these races because we do easy all the time. I have put more hours in our Lemons cars than i have getting the other cars ready for NASA Nationals.

Re: Buttonwillow is less than two weeks away.... Why so quiet? (Crickets)

Our new 'low profile' front end wouldn't allow us to do our traditional doggie-style car mounting because it would have torn off our new front end while loading the car.

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f115/torgysbuick/P1100330.jpg

The parts car and race car were too long to fit on the trailer, despite my best efforts at cutting 18" off the front of the car.

http://photos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs106.snc1/4599_201672895127_551555127_7194499_6300491_n.jpg

The solution?  Cut off the back of the parts car, of course!

Oh, and we're not done.  We will be turning wrenches at the track to pass tech...sigh.

Re: Buttonwillow is less than two weeks away.... Why so quiet? (Crickets)

Erik - why not just weld the two car together?

Re: Buttonwillow is less than two weeks away.... Why so quiet? (Crickets)

I will be welding in a patch panel at the track before going thru tech, I'm out of wire in the welder. Other than that, the Camaro is about done. So many zipties....
