Topic: Infineon Video

In anticipation of the Sears Pointless event, does anyone have, or know of an instructor-narrated, in car lap of Infineon?  I found this one but it isn't very helpful.

Re: Infineon Video

I can not watch streaming video from where I am but I found this on another forum. Not sure if there is instructional commentary though..

Re: Infineon Video

Here is a pdf that describes the line for the full course.  Lemons ran a bypass on 9-10 last time I was there, so ignore that part.

Here's a lap in my 914 many years ago.

Re: Infineon Video

it will be hard to find an "instructor" lap for the course we run....since most cars use the normal 9 and full 11.....  While ideal lines are good to know, we rarely get to use them due to heavy traffic....I would rather have a fellow racer drive less than ideal lines, but be aware of everyone around him....

If you are in a legit "C" class car....thats a good idea....drive way off line and stay out of everyones way.....thats what Spanks team does....

I found a couple laps from Skankaway....

traffic was an issue in both laps....but still pretty good...

Don't expect that this year.

Game On.

Spank made me promise not to tell.

But, here's a clue:

Re: Infineon Video

just to be clear-- this is only for Infineon. Rest of the races will be typical M.O.

Re: Infineon Video

Thanks to all.  Not looking for the perfect line but rather what to look out for.  You know, things that help you keep the car pointed the right direction as opposed to the fastest line.

@ppressle's pdf guide is very helpful.  Thank you.

@spank, should we expect to have the bright yellow LeMini filling our mirrors orr are you changing the theme to the #3 goodwrench (goodwench?) intimidator?  all mirrored sunglasses and mustaches maybe?

Re: Infineon Video

Spank is bringing a WWII tank to Infineon?

Apparently my name is really "Craigers".  Who knew?
We might be yellow, but at least we are slow
I'm a WINNER!

Hmmm so the turbo mini is working (for now) and is a tank theme....so it will be reasonably quick for about an hour....then it will blow up.....

Note taken....however I will be driving a proper C class car.....so I accept your challenge!!!!  Better lookout!!!!

Here is a clean lap I made in my car that was from the Skanaaway race last year. Instructional - no, but clean without traffic (they all got caught behind a tow truck) so you can see the layout they will most likely run. When asked about using the long straight to turn 11 they said there were too many wrecks there so they would probably not run that configuration again.

Also have this guide one of my team members gave me prior to running the first time

http://www.pantingpolarbearracing.com/infineonguide.pdf

It is worth a read if you have never been on the track before.

Re: Infineon Video

I'll add two specific things I learned during my first time on the track last fall/winter.

Turn 2: be wary.  You'll be cresting the hill as you're going into the turn, so the car will get a little light.  Add to that the fact that the track feels like it's sloping toward the outside (is sloping toward the outside?), and it's easy to go off there.

I was in a car where we had to carry a bunch of speed up the hill so we didn't get bogged down, and I got a little carried away on an early lap and wasn't even close to making the turn.  Shot more or less straight off.

Turn 4:  there's a bump somewhere along the inside of that turn near the apex, and it unsettled the car every time I hit it.  It felt like the car was about to lose it a few times.  I also felt like I was able to go through the turn just as fast by not quite hitting the apex.  Obviously, some cars may soak up the bump better than others; and I may well have just been overly sensitive to it; but it gave me peace of mind to not hit that bump, so it worked for me.

Other than those two things, the track is pretty straight forward, and very fun.  The esses were a blast!

Deleted, not sure what happened here I was replying to a much newer post

Re: Infineon Video

If it helps, here's some footage from earlier this year, I turned on GoPro's GPS mapping so it might be helpful to help you learn. This was our first time at this track and we had the same issue, couldn't find a whole lot in this configuration. We downloaded assetto corsa which had this map (I think as a mod) just to help us learn our left's and right's.
